Water Bug Infestation HELP!

Hey guys, I need some serious help! I live in a very old pier and beam house in the south and in the past couple of days I have seen a lot of water bugs or roaches or whatever in my house. I have seriously killed 3 tonight alone and I'm freaking out. I've lived here now for about 6 years and this hasn't happened before. The temperature outside has been in the high 90s-100s so I'm guessing that may have something to do with it.. I don't know. (Also, I know this is probably out of character for a reptile owner, but I am insanely afraid of roaches, however I gut load my crickets and worms well and have no problems with that :))

**Anyways, my question is how do I get rid of the unwanted bugs coming into my home, without harming my chameleons and the insects that I feed them?

Leave some dishes out with gutload out where every you most frequently see the oriental cockroaches after a day or two just let your chameleon free range the house and eat all the invaders!:p:LOL::ROFLMAO: sorry just joking.
Don't feed them to your Chameleon you don't know where they have been and could give your pet parasites or poison it if the roach has been around them.
Recommendations for Oriental Roach Control
  • Caulk all penetrations through ground level walls.
  • Stop water leaks, screen equipment overflow drains, and take overflow water away from buildings; keep drain traps full or capped.
  • Remove rotting leaves from window wells.
  • Move garbage cans out of preferred moist habitat.
  • Ventilate moist spaces.
Generally speaking, control measures should concentrate on the outside of the building and points of entry. This is called a "perimeter or barrier" treatment.
Also if you live in a city with an older sewer system check around all connection of that system to you house they may come in through drains.

Thanks for the response! I'll definitely do all that. My husband wanted to have someone come spray the house, but I figured that would be too dangerous my pets, but I didn't know where to begin as an alternative

Yep, ou

Our neighborhood (the grounds not houses) is infested with oriental roaches. The barrier approach works well. They don't want to be inside, but really thrive in a cham cage. Treat any mulch or planter beds against the house regularly.
