I usually buy purified water for my cham but i ran out and im wondering if i can can just boil tap water to rid it of all the impurities?

you can just use tap water, but it's best if you let it sit out for 24 hours in an open container so that the clorine can evaporate.

depends, if your water is treated with chlorine you can offgas it by boiling or sitting it out for 24 hours, if it is treated with chloramines they will not boil out or off gas so im not sure what you would have to do. If you are on a well system you should be ok boiling. Would you drink your water?

If its good enough for you to drink, its good enough for the chameleon.

What impurities are you worried about? Chlorine? Chloramines? Are you on city water? Well water? Do you know what is present in your water? That's the first step.

Boiling water will kill bacteria or other biological organisms but may not necessarily remove minerals, salts, or treatment chemicals. If you can drink your water safely the biologicals aren't a problem. You can remove most chlorine by letting the water sit in an open container for a day. But, if your water contains the treatment chemical chloramine this won't work. There are aquarium and reptile water treatments that can remove this. Some faucet or countertop filters remove chlorines and some minerals.

I don't see why tap water isn't okay, I've read this a few places though.
What could happen? I mean, water in their wild habitat isn't filtered or distilled..

I would drink my water but just use to purified store bought water. I live in a mountain area where the water is drinkable but full of minerals so im not sure if i could just boil it.

Minerals dont evaporate so boiling woudl not remove them. Your chameleon could probably use the minerals, so long as there are no heavy metals or extraordinarily unhealthy high levels of anything (if it is safe for you, its safe for the cham)
