water wont go down drainage holes?

ahem, like i said surface tension, you can try breaking it with a bit of abrasive on your cage bottom. its like dumping water on a waxy or water proofed surface. it beads, or bubbles up. as apposed to a porous surface. if you hit iy near the hole with some sand paper or steel wool it should wick to the holes via capillary effect.

thank you 6th grade science

i have not read the rest of the posts, however, concerning your question - on a flat plain of PVC, when drilled, a small lip will be left shooting skywards around the hold. this is from the initial boring through of the drill bit. sanding it down should help. or you can always make a large hole, sand down the edges, then cover it with screen to insure nothing falls through

lol perfect timing to back me up. no one else mentioned sanding, though i wasnt thinking of the lip from drilling. just breaking the surface tension. good point though

Just as well I continued to read this as i was going to say the same thing just from reading page one. lol. Same happened to me, so i sanded around the holes and it worked out great. ChameleonNerd, your such a smarty pants. lol ;):D:p

.

ok, i have hand drilled the holes with a larger drill bit, i am gona sand the edges down when i det home! thanks for all the responses and help. If it still doesn't work i will repost!

I have found that drilling lots of smaller holes, close together, in a drain pattern, does great with that material. Sanding down the raised bits is a great idea.
