The Mistking is automatic. It's programmable and you can have it mist throughout the day. It's awesome especially if you're not home all day. It does it for you.

I've got by pretty well so far with a hand sprayer, the kind you pump up and it locks open so you dont have to keep squeezing the trigger. It was like $7 at home depot. I also like to be able to spray bigger plants more thoroughly and reduce runoff water you usually get with an automatic system that sprays for minutes. I definitely keep a dripper going most of the time though because that's how my chameleon prefers to drink, it seems.

Automation, consistency, convenience. I don't use the mister for watering plants; that's done separately because some plants have different watering requirements. I do use the mister for nighttime humidity.

The biggest convenience (IMO) is not having to remember, "OH, It's 6 O'clock; I have to mist!" I also don't have to wake up several times a night to mist.

Runoff doesn't need to be an issue. When I set the mister up, I turned it on manually, and timed how ling it took to wet everything down without running down the drain. It took 2 min., so all my misting sessions are 2 min. long; very little (if any) water goes down the drain. Then I timed how long it took to dry out between mistings, which was 3 hours. So my timer is set for:

6:am​

Noon​

6m​

9m​

Midnight​

3:am​

Repeat.​

Man, I must live in a different climate from y'all, if I misted at all during the day, the humidity would be well into the 80%'s...

Lights-on, light's-off, and noon. Six hours apart. I don't use a dripper, so the noon misting is pretty much to make sure there's water to drink.

Hello again, my math isn’t so great. Do you mean water every 8 hours three times per day?

No... 6am to noon is 6 hrs. Noon to 6pm is 6 hrs.

Hello, was just reading my threads and found this one and have a question: I have a Little Dripper. Exactly what should be watered with it? At Petco they have it dripping into a water bowl I’m guessing for the chammy to drink from. But not sure.thanks.

A dripper is usually a bottle with a hose attached to it that drips water non-stop. The downside of this is if not properly placed you can have a large pool of water at the bottom of your enclosure at the end of the day. A Mistking, you get to control how long and when your enclosure will get the needed moisture.

A dripper is also a supplementary water source, while a mister, like a Mist King, is a primary water source

A dripper is like a dripping faucet.
A mister is like a hose nozzle or shower spraying fine mist everywhere.

A dripper might get one plant—or part of one plant—wet.
A mister—when set up properly—wets down the whole enclosure.

A dripper works via gravity.
A mister works via a pump.

We’ve never had our chameleon a little over a year. Everything has gone pretty well but one question that I have is regarding the water. We use a dripper bottle and manually mist. It works very well but the problem is at the end of two or three days the tray at the bottom is full on a 4 foot wide enclosure. We have to vacuum it out constantly. We use the little dripper and typically refill it once mid day. Are we using too much water are there any tips and tricks so that we don’t have so much that we need to vacuum out at the end of the day

Doubtful. That said, you'd likely benefit from a drainage system.

Your dripper doesn’t have to drip all day, just for a 2-3 hour period for your Cham to drink unless you need it for the humidity. Do you mist during the night?
What species of Cham do you have!
