My little girl seems rather chubby, i want to make sure that she is not gravid with eggs, i feel she is very young so i dont think that is the case.

Here is a pic with a measure tape, she is just under 5 inches from snout to vent. Her weight is 73 grams on my scale.

Also she is showing some very bright yellows and darker greens, so im hoping those arent a young veileds gravid colors.

thanks for reading!

edit: crap, meant to put "ratio" in title, cant edit that!

Not 100% on age is the problem, bought at a local pet store.
However Im trying to reach the employee at the store who sold me the chams, because i think he knows the breeder and may be able to give me a hatch date.

Edit:: negative on this, spoke with employee and they werent able to confirm.

haha everyone whroes out her blog, i read every thread about egg laying so far. thats why im so paranoid!

Thats cuz its a great blog!
as long as you have your egg laying bin in the cage, or soemthing she can dig at to show she needs to lay, I would just watch her.
though i really do think shes either very plump, or has eggs.
you could go to a vet and have them take xrays, which would show egg production.

thanks for the support. i been trying to watch her with out disturbing. just waiting to see if she starts digging, no signs yet.

Vet visit i feel is uncessary at this point, but if she continuees to grow and still doesnt lay ill consider taking her in

only a smally 12x8x6 little one on the bottom of enclosure. i have a larger rubbermaid bin i planned move her to once she starts digging.

ok, while its best to have one that is 12 inches deep, this one will at least give her something to dig in, which can show you shes ready tobe moved.

Yea I'd say she looks like she has eggs. These girls can start making them at 5-6-7 months old, so earlier than you might hope. The spots are her big-girl colors, so they will stay even after she lays them.

I'll tell you now, don't scare yourself about any of this! :) I know egg-laying sounds really scary and daunting but the great majority of the time these animals know just what to do. As long as they have where to lay there shouldn't be any complications except in a very small percentage of cases. If you notice that she's pacing a little more than usual or seems sort of restless, you can move her into the bigger laying bin (they like laying in the afternoon usually). Mine fight to get out of the laying bin for a while but if you ignore them for 30+ minutes they usually get down to business if they're ready to lay.

Although the size of the one you posted seems ok, is that 12" deep by 8" x 6"? If so, that's probably good for her. You can still move her to something larger if you want to but she may be fine with that.

My panther female refuses to use any of the laying bins I have for her. She's had two clutches already and both times she's dug them in the pot of one of her plants lol The plant barely has roots any more, but it's still going! I just make sure to keep my plants in organic soil for this reason. But she likes this pot, even though it's smaller than the recommended 12" x 8" minimum, but hey, she at least has several options to choose from.

thanks olimpia, my little bin is 12" wide, and only 6" deep i have a larger one to put her in, but she hasnt really showed any interest. I guess my biggest fear is the sand collapsing on her. because im at work, i didnt want to put a deep one in there in case there was a problem. Also i dont have that much room for a big bin in the enclosure. so as soon as i see she is really trying to lay i plan to move her
