Weird marks on female veiled lately

I was concerned about these bumps. They didn’t look quite right to me and thought maybe the beginning of an abscess or the start of something else. However they seem to have disappeared on the newer photos so perhaps it was just the lighting or photo that gave me that impression. My apologies for startling you I’d rather be safe than sorry when it comes to the health of someone’s pet.

Her colours look different but I still don’t think gravid, although she may be at the start of that cycle now. You mentioned she was a fed a LOT before so she may just be overweight. Her colours, body tone (outside of the chubby) and eyes look good. However, you have absolutely no cover in that cage so she may be hiding in or behind that egg laying box simply for privacy. Try adding a few plants and see what she does. An x-ray to see what's happening on the inside might not be a bad idea.

If possible, I would bring her to a reptile vet for an Xray to see what's going on. If they are not eggs, they could be tumors :( She looks excruciatingly fat  sorry. I can't remember if you said how much you were feeding her. But yeah definitely a vet check to see what's going on inside that pudgy belly of hers :D If you need payment assistance I have found care credit to be very useful. I have a card for my animals.

lol that's partially our fault I guess...she was really fat when we got her (as I said she was fed 3 dozen crickets a day) then I found this site and I was told to feed her 6-8 feeders ever 2-3 days so I started that but she got SO mad, was dark almost black all day until I fed her. So lately she has been getting about 6 crickets a day or sometimes superworms instead. I really hope it's not tumors..:( I don't think there is care credit in Canada

Trace- Could those bumps be from her ribs? I put her plant back in, here's her enclosure now:

Isn't it weird though that she has never laid any eggs and she is going on 2 years old? AND has always been fed a lot :s

I breed veileds and this lady is loaded with eggs. They don't have to be fertile to have a bunch of eggs in her belly. I'm sure if you gently felt her belly you would feel eggs underneath her belly. She will lay them when she is ready. It is really hard to wait - I know, I have waited and waited and worried, but she will lay. Just make sure the sand is wet enough. You could even dig a small hole, however I have tried that and my lady filled the hole up and dug her own hole. Sometimes they even dig 2 or 3 until they are sure they like the hole.

Okay thank you :) Hopefully she will feel more secure now that the plant is there too. I tried digging a hole, you can see it much better in the pics on the last page before I put her plant in. Should I try covering it up and let her make her own?

What marks are you guys talking about anyway?? The white lines and circles? The weird greyish circles/blotches?
I was referring to the same area that Trace pointed too, the greyish blotches.....not stretch marks, but maybe small burns or a mild fungal thing?......

Might as well leave the hole, she might even use it (not bloody likely - chams are such awkward little things ;))

Hmm...not sure how she would have gotten burned, right at the top beside the light is 88-90*F right against the screen, then temps gradually go down to 71 at the bottom (using IR temp gun). Plus she only ever has her head right up beside the light at 90*F, never her body that I've seen (you can see what I mean in the pics, she's right by the light). Does her head look burned at all in the pics?? I'm pretty sure she has always had those marks, maybe scars from a previous burn? It doesn't look raised at all, just looks like her coloration, would a fungal issue be raised or textured looking?

Her head looks totally fine. If she's always had the little marks they are maybe previous (healed) burns or her normal colouring (I've looked at these pictures too much......I can't tell anything anymore .....)
90F is pretty hot for a female Veiled but won't burn her though, and with the extra food too you should be expecting a nice big clutch of eggs.........

I would leave the enclosure alone!!! She probably isn't happy with all the changes, and will have to settle in before she is ready. Just keep the sand moist and you will probably have a surprise soon! She definitely looks ready to blow !

Okay thank you so much for all the help guys! I will also look into getting a lower watt bulb to lower the temps a bit but I'll wait until after she lays her eggs. Maybe that's why she was so mad before when we cut back her food, because the temps were still kinda high so her metabolism was still going full speed? We did change the bulb to a lower watt when we first got her, but I guess not low enough. So I guess there's a good chance she could have been burned before because when we got her in July she was only in a tiny enclosure (18x12x24 or something like that) with a higher watt bulb and a coil UVB bulb..... maybe even a UVB burn?

I'll leave her enclosure alone now too as long as everything looks fine, I agree it must be pretty stressful (moved rooms, plant out, bin in, bin moved, plant back in..etc. lol poor girl.)

Digging!

Lily still hasn't laid her eggs, but she did start digging a little yesterday, and today she has been digging in the same spot for about 4 hours now. I guess she just wasn't ready before? She was still basking and eating, etc. so I wasn't too worried, she didn't seem stressed out at all. Hopefully we will see some eggs tonight, or a skinny Lily at least! :p I'll keep you posted.

She moved to the other side of the bin now and is digging away! She's got a nice tunnel going, maybe tomorrow evening?!?! I hope so...this is stressful.

I think I'll just leave that big lay bin in there once she's done, that way it's always there if she needs it again, and it collects the water from spraying quite nicely ;) Do you think that would be okay?

That would be fine. Most of us leave a permanent laying bin of some kind in with the females just in case. It's always stressful....usually more for us than the chams, fortunately :)
