Well HE looks very good and I wouldnt worry too much about the sound your husband heard. He could have been hissing because he was mad but I have found that with some of my veileds, they tend to do periodic inspections of their cages during the day and sometimes the sound of their nails scratching on the plastic bottom can be alarming. Your little MAN looks good!
