Weird (undesirable) habit

My male Ambilobe has developed a rather undesirable habit. When I open the enclosure door to feed him or take him out for a romp, he immediately and quickly climbs out and perches on the top of the door. Not weird yet...wait for it...Then he proceeds to do is daily "doodie" immediately. Of course it falls directly on the floor, if I'm not lucky enough to catch it in mid flight lol. He will also do this when you take him out to handle him. Right on the wrist.....(ugh) Anyway he is very friendly and tame because of the time we've all spent with him. I don't want to limit our time with him because of this habit. Thoughts on why it's happening and how to stop it??

Just make sure he does it before climbing on your head. Maybe not before your friends, up to you

Well I wonder if maybe it's an indication that he needs more room in his enclosure?

Just a guess, but t may be a reaction to the stimulation. Kinda like some puppies do .

I agree with the thought that it is an indication he either needs more room or is a roaming mode. My Jax went through a similar phase - i swear he would hold it until it was time to free range. I just picked up on where he liked to go and laid down a paper towel. Eventually, he stopped doing it.

At least it's easy to clean up - don't let this restrict your bonding time with your cham. It's just poop

Newspaper

Just have a sheet of newspaper waiting on the floor, or don't open the door for a couple of minutes. Maybe he will go in his cage, then. That is an iky habit. LOL

Hopefully it'll ease up. I'll tell ya, I think he is definitely holding it in lol
