Is there anybody out there that is selling/breeding Werner's chameleons anymore? I need males to add to my breeding stock but can't seem to find any. Just three of four monthes ago they were everywhere now I don't know what happened! Anybody out there know where I could pick up a couple of Werners. FYI they are also known or go by "Pronto Three horned" or "Flapjack" Chameleons.

For 2008, and until population studies are conducted, only farm-bred three-horned chameleons are allowed to be exported from Tanzania. What came in earlier this year were apparently still being counted towards the 2007 quota. This year, the CITES export quota for Ch. (T.) werneri is somewhere around 150 (give or take) F1 individuals. If you can find any remaining WC's, I'd suggest snatching them up now as their price will surely be much higher when only one person in the country is able to supply the next batch of F1's.

Oh, one other thing too, I believe Flapjack and Poroto Chameleon refer to Ch. (T.) fuelleborni. Werner's might be the Uluguru Three-horned Chameleon?

at my local reptile show a breeder had cages filled with werner's chams and that was 2 months ago. they were only 75 bucks.

Specifically I am looking for Ch. (T.) werneri I had also heard them refered to as Flapjack or Pronto Three-horned but these could be misnomers on my part as I'd only heard these names at reptile shows and have never really been able to back them up with literary references. Therefore I dunno if you're right or not when you referenced the other species under those common names... Anywho, dosen't really matter as long as I keep it simple from here on out I guess. So, I guess I'm putting out the all call for werneri if anybody has some they'd like to get rid of I'm looking to add to my breeding stock. :D

Thanks

p.s. - do you happen to remember the name of the breeder from the reptile show you referenced?

Those are very informative articles. Now I am interested in going home to count the lg scales on the flaps of chameleons. I honestly didn't know they were that closely related!!

Thanks for the info!

I had that problem. I bought my male Werner because I was told he was a Jackson and even after reading books and stuff, I didn't know better since they both (Jackson's and Werner's) have three horns.

I bought him two female jackson's to reproduce with and tried to breed them for a few weeks unsuccesfully (duh!).

But yeah, I'd like to find a female Werner for my boy and I can't seem to find them anywhere....

Here he is... all lonely.

Hi, just read a classified on Faunaclassifieds in the chameleons for sale section. A guy from Reptilesplus is advertising werners for $40.00. He is out of Florida. You might want to check it out.
