What age to start cutting back?

My little veiled is just over 3 months old and has a very healthy appetite. He's been steadily gaining 2 grams a week since I got him. I know the general rule of thumb is to feed roughly 10 small crickets a day at 3-6 months old but I've also been told to let him eat as much as he wants since he's so young. He's eating between 15 & 25 feeders a day right now depending on what they are. This morning he ate 23 crickets! Dubias are usually around 18 small nymphs a day and I think he would eat a whole container of phoenix worms at a time if I offered it lol. Those are definitely his favorite. Is this too much? When do you usually start cutting back on their food?

I would start to cut back after they reach sexual maturity around 6 months. I would be carful and not let him overeat you have to remember they don't have someone handing them a meal in the wild. It's their nature to want to eat all they can because in the wild they might have to go a day or two without eating. Like with humans a fat cham is no healthier than a fat human causes all kind of health issues. Good luck:)

I went to every other day feedings when my male veiled was around a year old. Monty now eats 10-12 crickets or ~8 medium to large (not adult) dubias every other day. On some inbetween days I'll give him 2-3 superworms.

Not all chameleons will reach sexual maturity at 6 months of age. This is when they typically begin the phase of going to a juvenile to an adult. I cut back my females feeding back at around 6 months old. Males can wait until around 10 months or so.
