What Are Your Other Hobbies or Interests?

Just like the title says...What other things besides chams is everyone into? Some years back I raced motorcycles. After I gave that up, I wandered into the world of firearms and got hooked on target shooting. Became a certified Range Safety Officer and have a side gig working part time at a range. As if between my full time career and part time gig wasn't enough...I also love to make my own BBQ sauce, to the point I turned it into a little side business, portion of the proceeds I donate to a non profit org to benefit children and adults with Autism...Also have a few tattoos, always wanting more...So...whose next? lol

My passion is animals and I'm in the beginnings of starting up my own pet hotel, it would be my dream job if it works out. I also enjoy reading, video games and traveling.
 
I love reading and also have a tattoo (planning the next ones as well). MissMaisie, I've worked in a 5* hotel for 7 years at the Front Desk, so PM me if you have questions or advice I could help you with!

I have a major obsession with dinosaurs that I have had since I was a little girl. I'm also obsessed with Doctor Who, The Big Bang Theory, Harry Potter (books and movies, RIP Alan Rickman), Jurassic Park and the Lost World books, and I have one tattoo of Little Foot from the Land Before Time Series and already have plans for more.
 
So here is a list of things I don't have enough time to ever do anymore :(. I love fly fishing (used to love going up to the Catskill Mountains for camping and fishing trips) and hope to start again soon here in Florida. I enjoy (most of the time) playing golf. My best days are ones where the course is basically empty and I can take my time and enjoy the scenery as well as the course itself (I also think this has been referred to as "A Good Walk Ruined" :confused:). I really enjoy cooking and coming up with new recipes and using my wife as a guinea pig to see if its good :D. One of my main passions is music. I was in bands for many years as well as being a sound engineer and have many great memories from this!
My next endeavor is going to be kayaking. I have already started shopping around for kayaks and have some amazing places to go nearby home.

Too old...Ha! No person is too old for the Potter!! My little Nephew has been begging me to take him to the new Harry Potter addition at Universal Orlando...so I put on my poker face and made it seem as if I had to think about it....and then I told him I suppose. Lol. My Brother and Sister in Law said, "you don't have to do that. That is a lot of kids to have to deal with and there is not much for the adults". Little did they know I was already mentally in Diagon Alley devising a plan on how to push all those little kids out of the way...just kidding....kind of!!!

Hey I just joined a rod and gun club I used to shoot on a pistol team when I was younger :)

I like anything outdoors..hiking etc.
I love to travel. My dream vacation would be to go to Madagascar.
Currently my occupation is a makeup artist but it wasn't my life's ambition...just kinda fell into it.
I've loved animals since I was a little girl. Other girls played with dolls and I played with frogs and snakes :rolleyes:
Other hobbies are making jewelry which I hope to sell in the future.
I like playing Video games...although I'm a little older then the norm..but I'm addicted to Mine Craft and Tomb Raider..I think it keeps the mind sharp :p

I have to say, I probably enjoyed the Harry Potter books and movies more than my kids! Besides that I tend to like all things Sci Fi and my favorite author is Frank Herbert, I've read all the Dune books. My other passions are playing darts and brewing beer. Oh and lately it's been fishing with my son too. Looking forward to spring time bass fishing!
 
I'm usually kicking something or someone when I'm not hanging out with my chams or being a mom. I practice taekwondo, BJJ and MMA, I also teach self defence. :)
 
One thing I spend my free time doing is playing fingerstyle acoustic guitar. "Fingerstyle", also known as fingerpicking, is when you play the guitar with no picks. Using your fingers. I spend lots of my playing time making up my own songs, but I've never recorded myself because (1) I don't have a good quality camera / sound device to do so and (2) I am always changing the things I write because I'm never satisfied with it I guess. I do learn other people's songs as well... such as this song from a guy named Craig, that took me months to learn, and I finally learned it all 2 years ago, and is my favorite song I know:



I also enjoy riding flatland bmx. Like, in pretty much any free time I have, I'm out riding. I should have listed this hobby first, because it deff tops the rest for me. Most people don't know what flatland BMX is, or have even ever heard of it. It's basically breakdancing on a bike, and takes an insane amount of devotion and practice to master. I'm not in that clip, because those guys are professionals, lots of them doing it for a living... but that is a Highlight Video of one of the flatland Voodoo Jams in New Orleans back in 2013. Voodoo Jam is the 2nd biggest flatland competition in the world, second only to the Flat Ark in Japan. I plan to go to both one day.

I'm pretty good, but those pros are on a whole other level. Some of their riding gets insane crazy. I've only been riding about 5 years.... Lots of them pros have been riding since the 80's. Here is Jean-William Prevost for example....



The stuff he does is on a bike is insane. I don't compare myself to others though because that will discourage you. Use them as motivation instead to push yourself and learn. Riding only for fun. That's what I do.

This is the #1 love of my life right here, as BMX has always been with me in some form since I was about 6 or 7.

I also like swimming, running, camping, hiking, fishing, 4-wheeling, paintballing, Call of Duty Zombies, and sometimes having a few drinks to relax on the weekends. (y)
