I have 6 baby Jackson chams - they are 4 days old now, I have them in a tote that is 14" long, by 9" tall, by about 8" wide- my issue is..the fr/flies keep getting out - by the 100's !!! the whole top is screen, but they are getting out where the lid snaps on - any fix, or what cage is best? I have had them in 4 dif/ cages, but either the fr/flies get out, or climb higher than the babies can reach- is there any links on good baby cages?
thanks :)

the flies get out in like 30 seconds  I even had to pick one out of my EYE  they jump all over- its funny, in an annoying kind of way- but I the babies like them, but I want to be sure they have food all day, not just for 5 min - I will try the fr/ - maybe they will stay in longer

Go to a fabric store and buy some of the fabric that is used for butterfly nets or wedding veils. Hot-glue it place of your screen, they cant get through it.

ok, I will try- they get out at the lid - they can not get threw the screen, but the pinheads can- so I will go get some of that fabric and do the top and bottom in it, and add fruit :)

I don't use a screen over the baby bins. Open air with UVB lights only. Lance has it right with the fruit for keeping fruit flies in. I build a small network of branches with plastic leaves staying far enough away from the top rim so the babies cant reach. I try to sprinkle the flies onto the branches so they don't hit the sides and start climbing out immediately. It delays the escape long enough for most to be snapped up.

that was the first cage I tried, but the flies were up and out in about 5 min- so I changed to one w/ a top - I have a little "jungle gym" I made, and it is wrapped in fake Ivy, and then also 2 small pothos plants ,one in each corner, and then a vine - on the bottom I lay a paper towel so the water does not stand, I just feel like I am doing it all wrong- I did not plan to breed her for at least 7 mos-if at all, I did not want to do anything that could harm her, so I was not ready for babies at all- and now she is acting odd- she went to bed early, and in a spot she has never gone to before - I hope Olive is ok, I did not bother her, I will see how she is in the AM - the babies seem to be doing well, they eat, and drink - but I worry they are not getting enough - its hard to see them, and they move all the time, so its hard to know who ate what
