What Camera are you using?

Canon DSLR

5D II

100mm 2.8 L IS
70-200 2.8 L IS
135 2.0 L
300 4.0 L IS
16-35 2.8 L
1.4 teleconverter
flashes, tripods and assorted gadgets

The tools are great, the photographer... well...

Nikon CoolPix 5700; no additional bells and whistles. I find it a pretty good multipurpose camera if only it would learn to focus on those pygmeleons! (Or if only I'd take the time to learn how to handle the manual settings:rolleyes:.)

just broke down and got a canon xsi with the standard lens. Used some christmas money. :) It's quite an upgrade from our 7 year old point and shoot 3 megapixel pos. I'm hoping all of you awesome photographers can help me figure it out when it arrives. ;)

XSi is a great DSLR. A company called Magic Lantern makes some good DVDs and they're handy if you want to get up to speed quickly. Could send some links for on-line resources as well.

You'll have fun, and be frustrated, but you'll have fun.

Cheers.

Magic Lantern is great! I have one of their books for my EOS 3 from when I first got it. I didn't know they made DVD's... very cool.

I should get a book for my EOS 50D :eek:

Edit: DGray are you on the photography-on-the.net canon forum?

Thanks for the heads up on the books and the DVD's. I'm sure I'll need all the help I can get. I just can't wait to get it and start messing with it. Toys toys toys.

No to POTN

No, I mostly read the Canon forum on fredmiranda.com.

The macro forum will give you lots of good info for shooting critter like chameleons too.

Not only do I have "chameleon envy", I now have "camera envy!" I have an Olympus SP-51OUZ (7.1 MP) and a cheap Kodak EasyShare Z1275 (12 MP), but lately have been using my Sony HandyCam on picture mode and taking pictures directly onto the little dvds. The HandyCam takes much better close up photos. If I ever quit buying new chams and supplies, I hope to get a much nicer digital camera in the Spring!

yup, different names for different markets

I know this is also know as the XS. Are the cameras called different things in other parts of the world?

Yes, for some reason, Canon names the Rebel line differently in the U.S..

In order: world = U.S.
300D = Rebel ( "Kiss", in Japan )
1000D = Rebel XS
350D = XT
400D = XTi
450D = XSi
500D = T1i

Kind of confusing when you're reading international boards or reviews.

as a teen money is an issue but still want a nice camera so this is what i use:D fujifilm S1500
