uuuugh. my cham was climbing on his feeding cup i guess and it fell to the bottom of the cage.

he got up and climbed up the side of the cage and is back somewhere in the plants or something. i know a healthy cham CAN take a fall - and he seems very healthy, his arms and legs still look good. there is a purple spot on one of his knees (?) and im curious if it is a bruise.

if so, do i just... let it heal like a human? does it take a long time?

still cant believe it happened. i know its not the end of the world but i feel horrible. when he was climbing up he turned pretty like.. neon yellowish which id never seen him do before but when he got back up he turned to his normal minty green/blue again.

he is almost 4 months old if that will help. i will make sure i triple secure his cup from now on, lesson learned.

edit : at this point he is all the way back up his cage, climbing regularly..acting normally.. the spot on his knee might be part of his pattern, im not sure. but i had to ask just incase.

Hey kiddo!
just popping on inbetween cage cleanings!
if its a bruise, it will take awhile to heal, but he should be fine. Just check his leg, in case it (and it most likely didnt) get sprained or broken. not trying to freak you out here, he's ok
you dont need to put anything on it, well maybe give him an icepack and a beer!, oh wait, thats for you :p

gonna take D swimming, then I will be home

oops, thought for a sec this was a pm!!
oh, well now everyone knows what we are doing!!

It is normal for them to get get bruises on there knees :) as long as he is "business as usual" you should have nothing to worry about.

hes a champ, acting completely normal aside from the ... blushing on the way up.

he didnt fall on any jagged edges or anything and the bottom of my enclosure has wet paper towels. a drain will be put in soon but for now thats what i have to do to keep it from flooding.

thanks guys! i was really worried (as most first time owners would be) but as soon as he made it back up i figured he was totally fine. since i know in my mind they live in trees and are bound to take a few falls i figured he shouldnt have a problem.

Babu, my big Melleri dood, has bruises on both knees. He's new to me and it freaked me out the first few days, wondering what he must have gone through to get them. I'm an overprotective "mommy" to all of mine, anyway. Seeing him move around and do his usual routine makes me think he's no worse for wear, but it still makes me sad that his knees are bummed up.
