I was referred to this forum by a User on you tube to get a second opinion on my Panther Chameleons (Kylo) gender. The user stated in her opinion she thought it was a female due to colours and referred me to one of their videos on laying bins. So i come here to get another opinion on kylo's gender. Here are some Picures when he was 3 months up to present. :) His actual age is 9 moths :)

Panther chams become sexually mature as early as six months. But a good avg age is around 8 mos. She may not ever form eggs if she isnt shown a male and if her temps are kept on the cool end of the spectrum and you only feed her every other day and keep feeders at around 8-10. I'd still put a small laying bin in her cage just in case though.

If it is a girl, be prepared for her to become gravid by 6 months of age, though she more than likely will not produce eggs until after 10 months. Be sure to provide a laying bin that is approx 1 foot squared. Either use organic soil with no additives(like fertilizer, those little white balls, or anything of that sort) or many have success with washed play sand. I use a bit of both.

by color and age, it looks female as well, any chance you can post a picture of the vent area?
she would have been able to develop infertile clutches at 5-7 months, there are ways to avoid this though. do not breed her until she is a year or older

Do female Panthers need lower basking temps too or is that just for Veileds?
She looks good though, mate :)

we can't give you a real answer until you post a pic of its poop shooter dude take a pic and post it up and then we can give you the correct answer any way its a cutie!!! keep it away from laurie or she will squeeze its cheeks till its eye's pops out!!! lol:D

I'm not on my computer, I'm on my iPod but I'll upload some of the most recent, I think in total I have well over 500 photos and I've only had her (I've got use to saying her now :) ) 7 months. I thought at first I would love a male panther but now over the time period I've had her I'm not bothered, she's my little baby and I will always care for her :)

Something I forgot to mention, I'm not sire if it was relevant or not but his dad had red bars (is that the right word for stripes?) and his mum was brown. Plus the colour he is now is peachy which has only just come through and at one stage he had blue cheeks. I'll upload photos of these tomorrow :) night people

if its 9 months and no hints of any real color then its female

all the girls like the mom/mum are brown/peachy color

the males are the only ones that get the real color.

and "red-bars" is the correct way to say that

you can say you have a red-bar girl based on the father/sire

I've got another quick question about females- do they have the same temperament as a male ? Ie will show aggression to other males or their own reflection ?
