What have I done!

Well I have been on the site many times and I have always hesitated to complete the transaction. What have I done? I've finally ordered a taster pack of Dubais!:D I thought I had better bite the bullet before the temps drop and they can stay in the garage. Will Popeye like them? Will hubby notice? Will it be too cold in Aberdeen for them to breed without extra heat? Temp is 18c today and that's good. Any comments?

I laughed at the term "taster pack". Who is supposed to do the tasting, you the buyer or your cham????

Well considering I've got silkwormchow and butterworms in the fridge who knows.LOL

hahaha, thats 2 funny. goodluck. you probally need a heat pad under the tank or whatever you keep them in. i suggest haveing a main colonie(breeding) and then a little one you gutload for feeding.

Oh god. I almost hope he doesn't like them. :D. Popeye that is.LOL

Get deep totes and long tweezers. :)

Put a bit of heat on the tote and they'll probably be happy to stay right there with their food and water.

They can survive outside even during winter months in a garage. They wont breed but they can survive the cold months. In fact I kept my colony out there all last winter just because I didnt need the production. When I wanted to start them breeding again I brought them inside and put the heat back on em. They ate and everything they just didnt produce any young during the cold months.

So in this pk I have 15 small 10 med and 5 large. Do I keep the 5 large in the hope they will breed? Or feed them to Popeye ? Not sure if I'm ready to breed them.:D. Are 5 enough to start with?

Ok I have now got them and the large seem huge. I know the size rule but do you think they would be safe to feed an 18 month panther male?

My little 13 inch male could eat the larges just fine. The space between the eyes is a general guideline. If the dubia is wider than that space, watch him eat it to make sure it goes down okay.

Starting with 5 larges for a breeding colony is going to take you a LONG time to get a colony going with heat. Without heat it may never happen. 100+ will be better if you decide to breed them.

LOl thanks. Don't know if will take them yet. I've never seen one until yesterday. I don't think they are as readily avalable here in uk as in the states. I will keep the info in mind for the future.:D:D:D

The winter months in Scotland are way different than the winter months in Texas haha. Try negatives!

I very much doubt they'd survive winter where I live LOL

OMG just offered Popeye one of the large ones and yes! Bang he took it straight off. It seemed like a Hugh mouthful and I waited for problems but he managed it.:D:D:D:D took a pic but I was so excited it blured.
