WHAT IS THIS?

Can someone tell me what this looks like? Cuz I don’t leave feeders in her enclosure, no recent falls, no way for her to get close enough to the heat bulb for a burn. I know it’s small but I’m worried about my little girl

Not really sure what that is from. Doesn’t look like a burn or bruise to me. Is there anything that could have poked or abraded her...a stick, wire, etc? Do you feed her crickets? A stray cricket could have bit her. If you do feed her crickets, it’s a good idea to leave a small piece of greens for any stray crickets to eat in your cham’s enclosure. Has she shed lately? Maybe a piece of shed got pulled off before it was ready or she rubbed against something to scratch. I’d just keep an eye on it. If there’s any swelling, area gets bigger or problem moving her tail, a vet visit would be a good idea. You could put a small dab of manuka honey or plain Neosporin.

No sticks or hard wires I can think of. Only twist ties and zip ties inside her enclosure. There’s a couple of branch areas that a small twig shoot is sticking out, should I try to cap it? It is possible (but not usual) that a cricket escaped her and myself, those things sometimes (but rarely) fall from her mouth or escape when I’m feeding them the gutload There’s no swelling at the moment but I have neosporin ready just in case. I’ll keep a close eye on it and post any changes. Thank you

Oh and I also put a little food at the base of each plant just in case Her tail movement doesn’t seem hindered at all but I’ll monitor that too.

Fake plants can have sharp points. Zip ties can if they are not clean cut and twist ties in an enclosure is a risk as well. it is a wire and they can poke themselves on it.

it doesn't look like a burn, those are usually black in color. To me, it almost looks like a scab from a cut. Do you use live or fake plants? Sometimes fake plants can be kinda sharp.

I have a few fake vines up the corners of the enclosure

Thier skin is pretty vulnerable to scrapes and scratches. I would take a look at the enclosure and make sure there are no objects that may cause a scrape as that is what it looks like to me. Should heal up ok.

Would hot glue on the tips of the twigs and ends of any wire be sufficient or do I need to remove it all? Whatever it takes for my little one you know

You wanna keep a very close eye on that. If it gets bigger, please make a vet appointment. If it does not grow in size, but does not heal...probably also make a vet appointment. If it begins to shrink or heal, it's most likely some injury like stated above but less to worry about. Just my opinion to be safe.

It depends how sharp ends are for the solution. Hot glue tends to not hold up very well in humid environments.

Alexa is a Jackson chameleon and I’ve had her for almost 2 months. She is walking normally and is nice and green right now. I will keep checking this if it doesn’t go away it’s to the vet we go. As for the sharp edges, I’m putting a drop of hot glue on all the zip tie and wire ends and they round them out nicely. Just finished her play area and about to transfer her so I can work on the enclosure.

Oh ok, I’ve gotta buy some silicone 1(and set up an alternate enclosure to overnight her for the curing) unless it will cure in half a day? Thanks everyone for your help!

Maybe I am not understanding... Why don't you just replace the ties your using and clean cut the zip ties? Then you don't have to have silicone. Also you really need to let silicone gas off completely for a few days.

I forgot to answer your question about shed and yes she is finishing a shed.

Like this... I only use zip ties in my enclosures. Chams are removed when I do this and I clean cut the zip tie. It removes the sharp edge.

I can cut/replace the zip ties in there. My air plants are twist tied tho so maybe I could try zip ties on those too? Or superglue or silicone to secure the roots.
