What is wrong with my chameleon?

You should be fine with your viv. Just make your Temps and humidity are in check. If possible try planting your viv. I've heard it's better. Now to your ?. In the last month has she eaten something or did she act funny for a short period of time then go back to her happy self? Other possibility is that she has become gravid.

When in doubt take to a trusted vet.
> have a veiled and I have never seen her any where near that color. But, check for lumps. They will feel like jelly beans in a tight bag. Otherwise, I would take her to the Vet with a poo sample. Make absolutely sure she has a lot of water til you get her there.
About the cage, if you read up on everything and evaluated the temp in yr home and you have confidence in your choices, then, that's it. The cage is the very best. Let's find out what else it could be

There is no draft from the window. Also where i live it is not possible to get a screen setup as manchesters weather is unpredictable snd cold most of the time
If your cage is indoors, I would imagine the temps aren't as cold as they are outside.

He made another thread where they found the answer. OP had the basking spot at a 105f. Which is needless to say way way too hot.

Omg. That's just nuts. He was frying her! Thanks Cyber. This is the guy who is usin the glass cage, right? From England?

Hi all just read post, I'm from UK too. I have a glass viv with screen at the top, however just about to purchase my 1st screen viv . I'm a bit nervous about keeping temp and humidity up, however I've not had any issues with my girl in a glass/screen viv.
My vivid is 27 mid tank so about 30 basking I think does that sound right??

Zac I'm intrigued at how u can produce high Temps like that? As I struggle to get any higher than 27 , and it's on all day ...

Why are you nervous of keeping your temps and humidity up? I understand the its cold outside. However it gets cold where I live as well, and have no issues with temps. The temp outside, is irrelevant its the temp inside your house that matters. I doubt you guys are living in freezing cold homes, so what is the issue?

You could go with a glass VIV if that is what you want, however you need to look for certain glass vivs. There is ones that have the bottom panel as screen this allows ventilation just have a screen on top doesn't allow air to move through, nor does those little holes on vivs like his.

If you want to buy an all screen and cover 3 sides with PVC or something that will help hold temps and humidity, and also provide ventilation.

So also for JTK, I googled temps in Manchester the lowest they have ever been was 1f, well it gets down to -10f or lower for a month straight where I live and I use a screen cage. So seriously guys come on.

(that would be -23c)

When I say worried I mean in the respect that my vivid struggles to reach any higher that 27.5, so if I go to a screen will that be more difficult to reach.
Yes I live in a town house and my girl is on 3rd floor, so summer months not really an issue but come winter does struggle to reach.
(We don't like our heating on 24/7).

I've seen a viv I like it's all screen with glass panels at the bottom and yes I will buy something to cover back 1st and if I struggle will cover a side.

I'm not in Manchester.... we hit - c rarely
I don't no where ur from so I can't comment on that.

Everyone is each to their own really, so where someone might struggle with something, someone else might find it a walk in the park!!

Well I understand the not wanting to run heat 24/7 I sadly dont have that choice :( but I sure would if I could not run it. And zack was in Manchester that is why I said there.

As to the heat get a higher wattage bulb.

I'm on 150w I'm obviously doing something wrong not to be able to reach temp , but what ?? I don't no!!

how close is the bulb? What kind of bulb? Also where are you measuring temps. What are the ambient temps in your house on average?

My house is currently 22.5c with no heating on
My viv is 26 c mid tank with 99% heat going in that is from my digital thermostat.
The bulb is sitting on top of the meche .

I've just used a temp gun it says basking is 32 but I'm not sure that's correct

A really easy way to cover the sides of a screen cage, if necessary, is to use the film they sell for insulating windows. It comes in a kit with two sided tape and a clear plastic film. You put the tape on the framing on the outside of the cage, then adhere the plastic film. Then you go over the film with a hair dryer to shrink it tight. It works really well, and is darn near invisible if done correctly. Don't know if they sell those kits where you live.

This is similar to what is happening with my chameleon. isnt eating, very dark, and is on the bottom, but he is a male Jacksons. For more info check out my post
