What is wrong with our veiled cham's tail? *Pics*

We just purchased our first Chameleon a few days ago after doing extensive research and noticed that his tail was kinked when we bought him. I did not think it was an issue at the time but he doesn't really use it as a fifth leg like he's supposed to. Is this something I should be concerned about? Is it the beginning signs of tail rot? He's acting fine and eating good. Not exactly sure about his age but you guys can probably tell how old he is by his size compared to my hand. TIA!

Almost looks like it was caught in a cage door or smashed and broken somehow. He may never use it as a 5th limb if this is the case. Or it could heal and be fine.

Yeah definitely got his tail pinched or bitten at some point; it may heal up and he’ll be able to curl it and use it as a fifth limb or it may not. It’s hard to say at this point. The tip does look like it is a little open and raw. That will most likely heal up by itself but you can apply some plain Polysporin on it to keep it clean. If that gets worse and starts to get bigger or starts bleeding or oozing then a trip to the vet is recommended.

Aside from some superficial marks on his tail, he looks to be very healthy. Have fun with him!
