What kind of camera do you all use

You've been bitten by the chameleon photobug - welcome to our world!!!
Couple things - first - learn about what you are looking for before you go off spending big $$ on something you may not be entirely happy with - do some homework and then try to narrow down what you want versus what you need to get the shots you are going to be happy with.
I have both a cheap point & shoot (Olympus Stylus-7010 12mb roughly $150 USD) as well as a DSLR (Canon Rebel TSi) that I have spent a ton of $$ on lenses for, and I am entirely happy with both - they both have their purposes.
The cheapy allows me to throw it in my pocket and take it along fishing as well as catch all kinds of crazy cham shots, while my DSLR takes awesome shots - I'm not taking it fishing. - Just my 2 cents as I'm not a phone guy when it comes to photography. PM me and I will hook you up with a couple of sites for camera reviews & basic digital photography info.

Ok guys.. I need someone to talk me off of a ledge.

I just (30 minutes ago) purchased my first DSLR. I bought the Canon Rebel T3i, and I'm about to open the box.

This is something I've wanted to do for a very long time, but it's obviously an investment. After waiting for years, I finally decided to take the plunge tonight. I know I don't really need the camera, so spending that much money was giving me a series of hot flashes. Lol. I do think I will be happy with the purchase, but it's still a little scary.

Does anyone (especially with a Rebel) have any tips? I'll probably be spending the next couple of days figuring out the basics.

canon powershot. Not the nicest camera, but it takes amazing pictures if (and only if) there is enough light.

I would love to get a nikon dsl whatever though. We use them in graphic design and my god they are wonderful.

Also iphone takes great pictures.

I use a Nikon D7000, I have no clue how to use it:) but it does take fantastic photos. I am planning to take a class to figure it out lol

Just start out with taking photos, and play with your settings. Take notes about the results you get with different shutter speed and aperture settings. Oh, and read the manual ;)

Wow this thread has taken of, anyway I've had a play around with my camera and am starting to get some better results, I've taken some good shots of my cap est baby's and of the t laterispinis witch were the reason for this thread.
