What sex is my panther chameleon?!?!

The cheapest;) I like the phillips reveal bulbs though. They come in lots of wattages and give off a clean light. The mini reveal spotlights are good too. But any incandescent bulb will work. Just make sure your temps are correct, 85ish for basking.

Okay sounds good! I'm heading to the store now!

It could be a runt. It could be malnutrition. It could be younger than you think. Not really sure. No Ive never had Donahue eat on any plants, but he licks whatever hes on just about every other step. Step step lick, step step lick:p
This is Jannb's blog on laying bins. Which you will need eventually. Ive never kept a female from an egg laying species, so I really dont know anything about it other than its damned important.

Haha maybe its the chameleleon version of the ugly duckling ad be the prettiest chameleon of its clutch!:b
Okay I didn't know whether or not it was true. Someone told me that if they ate the plants the Cham would get sick!
Oh and what's your opinion on the gender?

I believe it to be female. Panthers are known to nibble on plants, but it seems like its rare. Ive heard its mostly somthing they do if they feel dehydrated. Some plants are toxic. There is a safe plant list on here for reference. I recomend you grab a small pothos from wallmart and throw it in there. Somtimes you can find the mini ones for under $2, and it would be perfect. You say a friend at petco special ordered it for you? Seems like you would be able to find out where they got it from. I recomend you try to find out as much as possible about your cham. That way you know where you stand.

What makes you say that!?
Alright and any other than pathos?
Yeah, she got it for me from a vendor who assured her it was a male. He said he typically doesn't sell females. Then again some people don't know panthers don't have the knuckle on the back foot like veileds!
I'll have to ask her about contacting that vender.

just want to say, its called a tarsal spur...l not a knuckle... fyi. ;)

And only thing i cna think of, is you bought a neonate. (freshly hatched chammy baby) to explain his size. but even then, he should be bigger, like twice his size at least. and should be showin gmore color.
which should never happen.
can you post even more pics please.

Oh that could be it! If so it will be fun to wait and see! Of the pics I've seen the colors on it are almost too vibrant to be a female. I know you shouldn't base gender on color, but it just seems that way to me.
***oh and I also bought another panther because I was told it was female a few months ago. Should I post pics of that too? They don't seem to get defensive of eachother btw***

The coloration and lack of a visible "bulge" is what makes me say female. Yes, even more pics would be helpfull. Especially of the tail area. Shefflera, hibiscus, and ficus are all safe. But the only thing your going to fit in that enclosure is a small pothos. I love pothos, its the best. Its hard to kill, cheap, grows fast, and you can run the vines all over the place.

Yah I bet that was pretty idiotic of me, but as stupid as it sounds I felt like it was lonely!
Well if he were a boy wouldn't he not get that stuff till he hit chameleon puberty? Haha

OMG>
no sharing cages!
if shes anywhere cllose to his supposed age,m she can lay eggs as early as 6 months old!
which could potentially kill her because she isnt developed enough to deal with egg laying!

at 5 months (lets just say thats his age and hes a dwarf) male panthers should be showing some color.
blues, reds, greens, oranges.. something.

females at the same age, pretty much look pink, brown, etc.

chams are SOLITARY creatures!!!
HES SUPPOSED TO BE LONELY!
and if that is a boy and you have another girl, adn they breed, its very bad..

females should never be bred before they are at least a year old, and most wait until females are 1.5 years old.

/\ /\ /\ /\ This/\!!! Dont feel bad, just concentrate on getting the husbandry right for them. Your going to have to figure out another living space asap. Even if its just a tree and you free range one of them for now.Post pics of both. Looking at your earlier pics, thats definetly a female.

well now if he has two females, its not quite as bad if they are together, but should still be seperated.
