My local pet store guy said nothing about all this....
So to get started.. is there a sticky on what I should be feeding my a baby panther other than crickets dusted with vitemens with D3 6 days a week then calcum without D3 on the 7th day...
After reading allot of posts I can see this is in no way close or satisfatory for him..
I need help and advice, I want to give him the best possible life I can...
I know I must sound newb...but until I joined here I had no idea how indepth his diet is..
Worms? Gutload? Calcium...
My local guy just talked about crickets..I dont know what else I can actuall fed him or what the heak gutload is... Please do not crush me and throw me to the curbe lol I really am excited to learn and give him an amazing diet!

hello and welcome to the forum! Gutloading is what your feed your crickets, roaches, superworms, etc. Most people do a combo of dry and wet gutload. The wet consisting of fresh fruits andveggies. Dark green leafy vegs such as mustard green, collard, greens, kale and then squash , apples, carrots, sweet peppers etc. Stuff like that. The dry can be something purchased on line like Cricket Crack(tiki tiki reptiles sells it) or Repasy Bug burger which you can get at any pet store. You have your supplementing backwards and a calcium with d3 should be used only a few times a month or maybe once a week depending on the brand. You want a plain calcium with no d3 to be used at every feeding and then get a multi vitamin to use a couple of times a month also. Dust your feeders with these supplements.

Ok thank you,! I had that screwed up...
So you blend all that stuff in a blender to feed to ckrickets?
Also what other crickets can I feed a Tamative Panther..

A couple more questins so I can get to feeding him properly.
If you gutload your crickets do you still use the calcium poweder on them daily?
Can I use to much of something when making gutload? O is it just generally get the stuff you suggested in the earlier post and mix it together and that is safe?
Also I have been putting the calcium dust in a baggie then throwing the crickets in the baggie giving it a little shake to cover them with calcuim..This seems to cover them quit thick!
Ar you guys using another method to dust your feeders?
Oh boy I can only imagen what you experienced guys ar saying to your self :)

no you don't have to blend it. you just put in your cricket container on a plate or just throw it in and feed to them. If you use a plate, paper is ok but they will eat styrofoam so don't use that. Yes, that is a sufficient way to dust the crickets. Just don't make them too white from the powder. and yes, still dust even though you are gutloading.

and don't be ridiculous. All of your questions are valid ones and we all started out just like you not knowing a thing. I had a million and one questions to ask when I got my first chamelelon. Better to ask, then to do something stupid!

Thank you so much guys!
I'm reading and reading post afte post on feding your crickets...wow so many different opinions!
And so much to learn and saturate..
Also what other bugs can I safely feed my panther and not make him sick.. Things from my local pet store?
I'm sorry for all the questions I simply do not know.. And doing all this research has shown me there is so much to learn..It's actually a bit overwhelming...
I'm just hoping I can get something figured out and make him healthy and not let him get sick or deficent..

You can use too much of the supplements if you are not careful. I usually use a plastic 32oz deli cup or a plastic folgers coffee can to dust my crickets before feeding. They should be dusted lightly so you can barely tell there is calcium power on the crickets. Over dusting can cause harm especially on the calc with D3. You can use the bag method that you are used to but just put a tiny pinch of supplement powder in with the crickets.
As for other crickets, there are commercially available varieties of crickets but some of the larger species seem to be aggressive and I have not used them because of this. I use Acheta domesticus which is the most common available.
In addition to crickets you can feed dubia roaches, superworms, hornworms, silkworms, bluebottle flies, butterworms ........

I recommend having 5 choices, minimally, with no single feeder choice making up more than 50% of the animals diet.

What to feed the feeders / gutloading:

Dino fuel is a good choice for a dry gutload. Cricket crack is popular. Repashy bug burger has a few fans as well. I personally make my own dry gutloads:
