What to feed baby mantises?

One of my mantis egg cases just hatched. I bought a "Flightless Fruit Fly" culture from PetSmart. Um, I call BS on the "flightless" part. These little buggers were flying around within seconds of releasing them into the enclosure.

So, those are out...what can I feed my baby mantises?

These are BABIES. As in just hatched yesterday.

They will probably end up eating each other if they cannot catch pray. They are usually about 200 so there might be a fair amount left for your cham (not meant to be sarcastic). Best for your fruit fies is to be released inside the enclosure of your mantids. They can fly once the body turns brown. As long as they are black, they are flightless as far as I know.

flightless fruit flies do not fly. What has likely happened is the culture got too warm, causing them to change into flying fruit flies. take them back and get a properly cared for culture.

The mantis will eat each other in the meantime.

They can also eat grain moths, baby mealworms, aphids...

Well, It's the whole you are what you eat thing. We feed your crickets and other bugs things to make them plump and health. One air fill mantis eating another air filled mantis is like eating eating popcorn. It's okay but not too much meat. You'll see that for the most part only the head of (zombie mantis) another nymph is canabalized. I'd walk you over a few fruit flies cultures if you lived a little close.

I fed off all but 2 from each case. Putting them in individual deli cups with pantyhose over the top instead of screen. Fruit flies, consider yourselves trapped/hunted/dead.
