What to put in my new Viv?

So I recently put together a 18x18x24 naturalistic viv for some of my crested geckos. I had so much fun doing it and it turned out so great that I wanted to try another one. It just so happens that at the Pomona show I won a really nice 24x18x36 exo terra. My only problem is what should I put in it? Thoughts I have had was to just do another really big Crestie viv, a nice Chewie tanks, or a tank for some Uroplatus geckos. I am just not sure that Uroplatus do well in glass, and not sure requirements on chewie's and if I could put a breeding trio or more together in something this large.

So what's your vote? What should I get? ....build my viv:D

lol mabey waxy monkey tree frogs, tiger ones. they are really cute you could probally put a few in and it would be something diffrent than the usual jungle we all build....or pygmys :D
 
I was wondering where that went...I figured that I must have set it down somewhere in the show. I am glad to know you have it :D:D:D

GTP is out....animals have to have 4 legs to come in our house ;)
I thought about Pygmies but they don't really need the height do they? This thing is three feet tall.
By chewie I mean Rhacodactylus chahoua they are cute geckos related to cresties.
It would be one LARGE dart frog viv....actually I think it probably is over kill for any species of frog.

....maybe a smaller species of cham. What are some good species that work well in a glass viv?
 
Congrats on your win Rob! Such a good excuse to add more scaleys t the household! :D I love Chewies and cresties, but have you maybe considered a Leachianus? They look like huge Chewies but I don't know anything abut their care though. I had heard that Exo Terra make 3ft tall glass vivs, but as yet I have never come across a supplier in the UK. It must be quite heavy and come in a huge box, lol! I won a voucher in a UK comp over a year ago and I used it to buy a 45 x 45 x 60 Exo and it's been sat in the shed ever since until one of my cresties gets big enough. However, the lock on Monty's viv has broken and I can't open the door so I may have to upgrade him to that until summer when he can have his screen viv set up.
 
Rob, I either want to pay you for your items or send them to you. I can put them in a box and ship them.
I didn't even notice they were in the car til Monday :)
 
CARPETS! What about a carpet chameleon? They're beeeautiful, and smaller, so they would probably do fantastic in something like that.

Or what about day geckos? You can either do a trio of the larger geckos (giant day or stanging's) or a larger colony of the much smaller ones (like peacock or william's). They are also beautiful and they're active during the day.

a Leachi was one of my first thoughts...but a little research, I found they can have a pretty bad odor:( And I would like to have a pair and from what I understand they can be picky as to who there mate is and will often fight if it's not to their liking. But as they say....this calls for more research.;)

Thanks Anne! But I am not sure it's worth your trouble...it would be a bulky box for a couple of small things. I am just glad I am not going crazy and that I know where I set it down:rolleyes: If it's stuff you will use I would say just keep it...and help Suzi pick me out the best female;);) I am really not worried about it at all!

Carpets sound very interesting!! I had thought about a smaller cham species but just wasn't sure about keeping them in a glass enclosure. I will have to pm a couple people and find out about them...I have been trying to get Dooley1 to do a care blog about them.
Maybe even a Bradypodion or Kinyongia species...:confused:
 
I know Dooley and Dez are both breeding Carpets and have some available either right now in the coming month or two. I am SO tempted but I don't think I should have anything else for the time being. You can ask both of them how they do in glass, they should be more than able/happy to answer your questions.
 
Id go with some cool geckos, carpets are nice too I have some as well. If it were mine Id have some day geckos or U. henkeli or sikorae since you were considering Uroplatus maybe.
 
I vote some sort of Cham species. IMO lots of different types can live in an exo-terra if done properly. I have three of my chams in exo-terra's. No problems as of yet. 2 panthers and a veiled.

The bradys and kinyongia would be great candidates! Maybe showjet has something, he had a couple in the classifieds a while back?
