What Top 3 smallest chameleons?

From what I understand they aren't hugely popular in the chameleon world... but are supposedly more robust than some of the lesser known varieties. If @jpowell86 Sternfeldis female in the top picture is gravid from what I expect with her looks, and if she has a fertile clutch I wouldn't be surprised if he has some babies for sale when she lays.

I have found some chameleons that I want to keep are either the rudis chameleon, a sternfeldi chameleon, a mount mur Jackson chameleon or a carpet chameleon, what do you think guys?

Rudis supposedly are really hardy. And I have heard their captive populations, though a bit hard to find sometimes (since I last looked) are pretty decent. They are super holdable from what I understand. You are more likely to get a shy one than a tolerant one. But since you are getting into chameleons you probably are prepared for that. I am glad you are getting a smaller chameleon that works for your space <3

Ok thanks for your help and yes I will probably get a rudis or pygmy.

If you get a pygmy they need very different set ups compared to regular species of chameleons and if you get a large enough cage (around 25 gallons is large enough I think) they do well in colony set ups. No more than one male a set up unless over 50 gallons of course, but I think in 25 gallons it's safe to have one male and 2 females. Of course you would likely want to double check that. I haven't looked at pygmy care in a while. And when I say gallons I mean aquarium or terrarium. They do well in those set ups and do great with bioactive set ups. I had a 110 gallon aquarium that was originally a land hermit crab set up a few years ago when I was doing a rescue for them. I ended up giving that up. If I ended up doing anything with it after that I decided I would make it into an awesome pygmy habitat and there would be like 8 pygmies in it. No more than that for sure. They would have had a castle <3

Hahaha love reading these story, and thanks so much also I wouldn't do this but could you keep a pygmy by it's self?

I don't think they would do badly by themselves at all o_O they don't necessarily need others, it's just cool you can keep them in colonies. Especially depending on the species you get you can always hope to start a captive breeding colony going. Especially since pygmies come in wild caught most of the time and sometimes they die within a year from just old age. It's hard to tell how old they are when you get them. Let us know what you decide to go with for sure ^^
