what type of household bulb for basking lamp?
halogen or heavy duty?

I use general purpose A19 household bulbs. Mine are clear glass, but they come in a "soft white" type as well.

Yep, just a regular old incandescent bulb.
What size is your cage?
I use 40 and 60watt bulbs but it really depends on several things.
If I were you, I would get an assortment of differnt sizes plus a digital therometer with a probe.

im already in the process if getting different watt bulbs but wasnt sure which bulbs.thanks for your help.
btw my setup is 5ft high by 2ft wide by 1ft 9in deep.

You may want to look at incadescent spotlight bulbs for a cage that size.
