what type of lighting do i really need

I dont recommend using a night lamp as well because it can effect your chams night cycle. they have a light sensor on the top of thier heads that can detect light and when the night lamp is used it can cause issues. Just imagine having a flashlight put in front of your eyes when you try to sleep, not a fun experience :p

Heres some help

Hi. I too recently have gotten a graceful chameleon. This is my second attempt at keeping a chameleon. I started with a senegal and I only had him
about a month and he died. He got a respiratory infection.

Anyway, all of these posts have helped me a lot. I would like to double check and see if my setup is fine. I have an all screen cage, I have a basking light but by reading all this it is too hot, so I know what to change on that. You only need to change you lights if the temp is not correct. Make sure you check both the basking spot and the rest of the tank. I also have a UVB 5.0 across the top, a gal jug of spring water with a small hole for a dripper, and a fogger that I keep on all the time. Humidity is ranging between 70-100%. I feed crickets dusted with reptivite no d3 and also pheonix worms but he doesnt seem interested. I guess he is eating the crickets because they are disapearing. I havnt seen him eat, I guess he is just shy. Are these the only supplements you are using?? you also need to give them Calcium with D3 twice a month. I do mine every Sunday and also I use Rep-cal Herptivite twice a month as well. I do this the opposite sunday as the Calcium With D3 Are live plants really safe? Yes some live plants are safe. Here is a safe plant list http://www.flchams.com/safe_plant_list.asp it is on one of our sponsors websites. I have a Pothos, Sheffiera and Hibiscus I have been told by someone who has great success with chameleons and who works with a vet that says no live plants. I had a pothos in with my senegal but took it out because they said dont do it. You guys do use them and seem to do fine with it. It is so confusing because you see so many different opinions. I worry too about my little guy. I just want to make sure this one lives.

Is the fogger and dripper enough water? I sometimes spray around him from the top as well. as long as he has around 2-3 minutes of dripping at least 2-3 times a day and your humidity is right you should be okay

Does my set up seem fine from what I have told you? And I would like more imput about the live plants. I guess I worry about the soil the plant is in. Also I put clean River Rocks that I bought from a craft store in the pot to cover the soil. that way there is no risk of them eating the soil. Make sure the rocks are bigger than their head so they wont be able to eat them by accident either. (no small rocks or pebbles)

Thanks

I hope this helps. This is the info that I know I will try to point you in a direction of someone who owns these chameleons for specific info on temps as I am not 100% positive and I wouldn't want to give false info.
