What would you think if...

I were to put Monty up for sale?

He is a good chameleon. He has his grumpy times, and also MBD, but I have a baby who will soon grow out of his enclosure.

We cannot keep both, and to be painfully honest, I like Brave better. As much as I love Monty, he needs to go to someone who can take care of his MBD full time (my father has a knack for forgetting supplements) and who can tolerate his grumpy behaviors.

Would it be a good thing to sell him?

I say you do what you must. If it all comes down to what is best for Monty, then you know what the answer is. I can't imagine parting with my chams, but i'd do it in a heartbeat (after some sobbing) if it means they will be very well taken care of.

Yes I think it is a hard decision but I honestly think he would be better off with someone else.

OR I find Brave a home.

Or that... So it's either you give up monty because you won't be able to attend to his needs with MBD when Brave gets bigger or you give up Brave who you favor more between the two??

Sounds to me that you are leaning more towards having Monty be with someone who can care for him. If it comes down to Monty's care, and someone can and will care for him in ways you cannot, just do it. Can't play limbo with their health right?

Well, I CAN care for him, but it is not very convenient. And I am afraid that if something bad happens I will lose him because of that weakness of MBD. He IS getting better, I can see progress.

Maybe I could stick with my first pet and only foster Brave like I said I would. Again, it is a tough decision. Now I'm favoring KEEPING my beloved first pet Monty.

I do not know your circumstances of acquiring Monty, but I do remember when you got Brave and rescued him from a bad situation. Clearly you care a great deal about your boys and only you can make that decision. I don't think anyone would think less of you because you chose to make a difficult decision for the betterment of your pets. If Monty's care is too demanding he may do better in another home and I don't think there is anything wrong with trying to improve things for him. Caring for a special needs animal can be very demanding and expensive, so you do what is best for you, Monty and Brave.

My gut feeling about this is that you offer him to a good adoption home for a token amount (such as sharing shipping)....because he's a special needs cham, not perfectly healthy. Asking someone to buy him knowing that he's going to need special care and expense seems a little unrealistic.

Just my $0.02

Honestly you will want to be very careful with this because forgetting supplements for brave can cause MBD as well. So make sure you can at least care for one of them.

Well how old are the two? Chams don't live forever. I know it's awful to say but if Monty is older why not spend the remaining time as his parent? You really want what's best for your babies. And you seem to care an awful lot for the both of them. I think you should try to keep the both of them:)

Maybe so... It's so tough.

I just made this thread out of emotion, not really thinking ahead. I really would love to keep both of them.
