What's on TV tonight?

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking around this forum for a few weeks now. I've gotten some great information from all of you.

Here's my question....I'll be getting my baby Ambanja (Gizmo) very soon (July 15th). His cage is all done and his breeders (the Kammars) has given it the thumbs up :). The cage is in my bedroom away from all the traffic, however, I do enjoy watching television at night before I go to bed. Will the television light and sound stress out my baby? I've strung up a line to hang a dark sheet over so that it cuts out most of the television light. Will the noise also bother him?

Thanks for any information you all can give. I will post pics of Gizmo when he arrives. Stay tuned!

I had both of my chams in my room...my Nosy be didnt give a hoot and went to sleep as soon as the lights went off...now my Ambilobe did care that a light went on but not so much the tv. I wouldn't worry about the tv at all stressing him out but try to keep the lights away as in any bed stand lights and such.

I just got an Ambanja from the kammers and have an 5 month old Ambilobe from them. You picked a great breeder. TV does not bother either of them.

Who is the sire of your Ambanja. I have one from Amandil I just picked up from the San Diego Super Show. 2 months old.

Yes the Kammers are awesome breeders. I know of your baby's sire, he is magnificent!

Gizmo's Sire is Vinyarion, a beautiful male, but I must confess, it was his grandsire Glorfindel that got me hook!

Also, thank you so much for your input regarding the TV. It is most appreciated.

Hey, that's awesome. My chameleon from the Kammers is 7 months old, and his grandfather is Glorfindel as well! I couldn't be happier with his colors, his blue-on-blue side has come out very strong.

Yes, I can't wait either. I ordered him in April so it's been a long wait for me! I'll post some pics of him after he's settled down.

How was the temperment of your chams?

That is way cool Spatulars! I guess that makes us related by cham adoption:D.

Same question, how are their temperments. Not that any of them are ever THAT great!.

Spatulars, who is the sire?

I've seen the blue bars on blue phase in a picture of glorfindel. Doesn't even look real. Not that any of them do, but wow those BLUES were amazing.

My cham is actually 50% ambilobe as well, his sire is Mihoatra Finoana, and that's who gave him a green tint to his body, yellow throat, and red spots. Walter (my cham) eats from my hand, but he does show signs of stress if I take him out unless we just do a transfer to outside. He only gets angry when I move too fast around him, so I maybe see him puff up once a week or so. I'd say that's pretty good, he's not a biter which I'm thankful for. He takes cricket bribes well, so it's easy to get him to do what I need him to.

Howdy,

Welcome fellow SoCal chameleon keeper :). We have the South Bay Chameleon Keepers group that meets in the evening on the last Tuesday of the month in Torrance. Stay tuned for a post a few days before, announcing the next meeting and/or send a small email to [email protected] to get yourself on the list. Among other things, we do bulk buys of feeders :). Meetings usually have between 8 and 12 keepers at any one time out of about 15 semi-regulars.

What part of SoCal are you located?

Thank you. I can't wait to see pictures of your new guy, I think you picked a good combo with Vinyarion and Glorfindel, and more importantly he will be pure ambanja which means you can breed him when he gets older!

Dave, I'm in the Lakewood area. I will email to the link you provided to get on the list. Thanks!:)

Spartula - Yes, I must admit, breeding him is already occuring to me and I don't even have him home yet... Yikes, I'm in trouble now.:)
