Many on the threads have more than one cham. I'm just curious...How soon after getting your first chameleon did you add to your collection and get a second, third, etc?

I am hoping to get a female my seconds Cham in like a month. I have had my guy for like a month haha

I purchased my first, a little WC Jackson's from a show in August, and just shortly afterwards I was commissioned to do some art work for a panther breeder. We agreed to pay me in the form of a panther so by November I had my second guy. And then I think that by March I had my third, a second panther.

I had my first male veiled a year before i got my second chameleon a female veiled. I think it's better to wait until you have some experience with keeping before you rush into your second chameleon. I'm also glad I had plenty of time to spend with my first boy before splitting my time with two.

I got my first, a veiled, about a year ago. In less than 2 months I had 3, 2 veiled and a panther. I no longer have the veiled chams because I decided to focus on panther chameleons. I now have 1 male and 2 female blue bar panthers and 52 eggs in the incubator.

I'm with Jann - I bought my first cham, and didn't get my 2nd for about 3 1/2 years. I really believe that for a new keeper you need to really understand chameleons and what you are looking for to help keep them healthy and happy. I have 3 at the moment and as tempted as I am to get one of Jann and Dez's Great Grands, I know that I don't have the time or capacity for a 4th chameleon right now.

I got my first one last May as a sort of rescue - and ordered another cage so that I could take another baby as they were overwhelmed - but that didn't work out - then I made an offer on a panther that I assumed wouldn't be excepted - I did it after checking around and figuring that I couldn't get a captive bred senegal-graceful or flapneck which was my preference for the empty cage- I didn't go for the graceful I saw shortly after as I thought I should figure out what I was doing first but I was afraid to miss the chance at the captive born flapneck ...and I was soar from kicking myself every time I saw pictures of Tate.
3 in less than a year- 1 May one June and one in Jan - I love the guys & gals I have, but I really wanted a little green guy (or girl) so I'm done for now - I did make sure that the new cage I got for my panther would split into two smaller ones if anything were to happen to him.
