Hey everyone, do chameleons just keep growing until they pass away, or are they full grown at a certain age? If so, at what age are they concidered fully grown? I am going to be picking up a male veiled after the holidays and will only be able to keep him in a 36''x24''x24'' enclosure until I can move him up to a larger one in August. How old will he be when he outgrows this enclosure? Thanks for the help :)

Enclosure

That is a good size cage for a while until he is like 8 months maybe my male is at least 10 ten to 12 " he's big and he is happy in 18-18-36

I know that it depends a lot on the parents, whether they were wild-caught or captive-born, diet, and such. I have seen some only 9-10" full grown and, like my veiled, others over 20" nose-to-tail tip. Maybe some pics or more details would help someone give you a better guesstimate? Thanks.

Generally, they are pretty much as long as they will get at 18 months old, and are about as heavy as they will get at 24 months old. This is for a healthy adult, and of course it can vary from animal to animal. They do continue to grow throughout their lives, but after 24 months, it is such a slow process that it is basically only noticeable because they continue to shed.
