when is a cham a " senior"

Mesh nets/hammocks are hard to put in if you have a very bushy plant or lots of vines. Vines can be moved above the net, but the plant is not so easy. You have to cut holes all over for everything and the branches/leaves get caught on it when you try to put it in. Its kind of a hassle unless you plan to go plantless. Thats why I usually suggest cloth around the bottom to act as a pillow for falls. Fleece just happens to be the easiest for me. I've used it with females who wouldnt lay unless the laying bin was the lowest point in the cage and it still allowed for drainage when I misted (which is why I like it!)

Maybe you can make vines out of the wire and use sand paper to make they a little less smooth? Or is his grip just really weak and he cant even hold onto a non-smooth vine? If thats the case, then pool noodles or other foamy, thick tubes might be best.

Edit: maybe if you loosely wove some tulle like you did with the vines it could work? It wouldnt be a full mesh net, so you can easily put it around plants, and its soft enough that he wont hurt himself if he falls on it.

I can't quite figure his deal - when he climbs on me, like in the am - alot of times I will hold him while I have my coffee- and he can hang onto my bathrobe and walk around, and up and down on me - but its like on the vines, he just cant seem to hold onto them very well - he likes his logs alot better - I don't think panthers have as strong a grip , well, not they have a weak grip, but they seem so gentle with their grip- Olive will make me bleed - she hangs on that hard - a tornado could not suck her off her vine
