When is it Ideal to upgrade to Adult Caging

Currently my cham is around 5 and a 1/2 months old and already at least 12 to 13 inches long. He currently lives in a 16x16x36 cage. I am looking to increase his adult cage to either a 24x24x48 or a 18x30x30. I read that chams should be in adult cages my 8 to 10 months but he seems awefully large for his cage already. Which do most of you prefer and at what age should he be moved into it?

Go ahead and move him. Tiny babies who are not finding their food easily are the ones who do better in small cages. Your cham is ready for more space.

Thank you. I figured he was getting a bit big and since he seems to roam the cage and wants to come out every time I open the cage I guessed he wanted more room. Since I'm new to keeping chams I wasn't sure and didn't know if I should stick to guidelines.
Thank you again. :)
