When will this frigging cricket die:@

As Im reading this I can hear at least 3 different crickets calling.

I turn a fan on in my room, that noise drowns out the crickets and I find it soothing.

As for catching them, those scented glue traps should work (they do for me).

Does the sound really bother you guys that much?!:confused: I don't mind it at all. I keep anywhere from 1000-2000 at a time....

i haaaattttteee the sound of crickets. i keep 200 at a time at most, an i just want to drop them down the toilette to stop it (which i have done).

trust me no one in my house will ever here crickets chirping i sleep on the couch every nite and snore my brains out and i mean the walls shake thats why im on the couch my mate sleeps in the bedroom with the door shut fan goin and ear pluggs the crickets packed their little suitcases and left for a quieter place to chirp

I've just realised. The hotter it is the louder/more often it will churp. The cooler it is the less he will churp but the longer he will live...hmm what to do what to do.

RELEASE the Hounds...

and by hounds i mean chameleon.

i have a 20gal fish tank with about 500 crickets in my room, ive learned how to close it out.

We have a whole crix breeding operation going on in our reptile room. The reptile room is on the other side of the wall from the living room.

The other night we had some friends over and all of a sudden everyone stopped talking and there was a moment of awkward silence and then the crix started chirping. Everyone laughed so hard cause they were right on time like a sound effect.

I have mostly learned to block them out also. I have three inside cats and two large dogs that get a kick out of catching and eating crix. :)

I keep a big tub of breeding crickets in my bedroom ... and now I can't sleep WITHOUT the sound!

I find a little bit of tequila works really well. (about 26 oz.);)

Problem is the next day, (keep a handful of painkillers for the hangover)

When I play WoW, on vent my guild asked me if I was outside and I said "no", "I just keep a chameleon" followed by laughter from my friends.....

I think theres two you know seriously. Bloody things. Thanks for the replies and interest guys found some good stories lol.

How I deal with escaped feeder insects:
Two wolf spiders live free-range in the chameleon room.
Sticky paper (meant i think for mice) scented like peanut butter placed under a cabinet (somehow the spiders dont ever get stuck to it, but crickets certainly do)

For the rest of the house, far away from the chameleons, I have a can of RAID. I dont like to and rarely have to use it. I can tolerate the occasional escaped cricket song. But my in-laws dont care for the sound, so when they visit, the RAID is my back-up plan.

Raid works well for them, just be careful not to spray anywhere near your chams cage (obviously:rolleyes:) also, if you have any fish tanks, don't spray AT ALL in that room, I've had someone tell me that all their fish died in one night after spraying raid in the same room.

For me, I just don't even hear them anymore, it's like my fish tanks, at first the sound of running water drives you crazy (as well as makes you have to go to the washroom every 5 mins) but now I think I'd go crazy without the sound, too quiet!

Get a piece of paper and cover it in double sided tape, leave it on the floor under a lamp. then turn all the lights out in the room. the cricket should be attracted to the light and heat, and get stuck to the sticky tape hopefully or lie and wait if not and squash it!

isn't the wolf spider can inflict a pretty mean bite to you and your chameleon?
Actually, I have 2 spiders (just the normal itty bitty one) that become a great helper catching gnats and escaped flies in my room.
Therefore, i decided to leave them there.

Bluegoldfish I sat under my desk for an hour all lights off with the lamp, he was churping under the skirting board but wasn't brave enough to come out lol.
