Where are the Carpets??

When I first started researching Chameleons, I really wanted a Carpet! After a few months of research, I concluded that my dream wouldn't become a reality for quite a while, since no one anywhere close to even shipping distance (that I could find anyways) sold carpets! Turns out it was a good call anyways, since they aren't typically a "first chameleon" type of deal! I love my veiled, don't worry! Good learning curve, and a fascinating study!

BUT I did want to live vicariously through some of you guys! So give me a shout! Where are all the carpets out there?? Seems like this site is all panthers, jacksons, pygmys and the occasional fischers! But I want to meet all of the carpets out there!!

Dooley1 is the guy to talk to. I have a couple pairs, but no babies at the moment. I am not sure about the Canadian breeders though. Dooley1 might know some.

Nice to see another carpet fan! I love my veiled as well, but I think lateralis has got to be my favorite species.

Here's my boy, Telo:

Isn't he a cutie?! :D
I got him from Kevin, aka Dooley1.
I believe he's selling some little dudes right now :)

Also, there's another cool guy named Frank who's breeding carpets as well. This thread has amazing pictures of several chams, carpets included.

Thanks Maya! I'll post a few here too ;)

MsCham, you have great taste in chameleons! Carpets are awesome little guys. IMO they are just as beautiful and hardy (as captive bred) as panther chameleons and have less space requirements. Here are some of my group. One male is from Dooley1 (Kevin). He is the carpet guru like others have said. I know he has some available now but I'm not sure about the shipping to Canada. Until you get your own enjoy some lateralis eye candy.

That last picture of your female will never cease to amaze me. Who knew such little creatures could create such a colorful punch!

Frank, your photos are always stunning.

I wish that I was able to ship to Canada. I always have lateralis hatching out...in fact one is hatching today.

I hope someone in Canada can hook you up-they are wonderful chameleons :)

Man oh man you got some carpet celebrities on your thread now
Kevin's shy I guess but you should check out his FB for some of the most adorable cham pics ever, baby lats for days!

Also, Frank, I'm so glad you added that mating picture :D haha fantastic!

Thanks everyone! That one female is just a stunner. I'm hoping her offspring get her colors.

Frank your photos are so amazing!! I have a particular love for the black ones with the color, but I agree, the last photo of those colors are stunning!!

Thank you Maya for the FB link!! Kevin has a new stalker! ;P

I will be getting my new passport in the next few years here Kevin, so maybe one day I'll be able to take a drive down and take one off your hands! I'd have to see about the customs stuff in that regards though! And get a new setup... Which would be quite a few years in coming! Why are chams so expensive! *cries* You truly have some beautiful animals though! (And obviously come so highly recommended!) Post some pictures of your new baby when he/she is hatched though!! Always love seeing them!

The black background is usually how females look when they are either gravid or non-receptive and in the presence of a male. It was a picture of a gravid lateralis that got me into chameleons twenty or so years ago.

You learn something every day! That must be such a drastic color change!! *mind blown*

The more I find out about lateralis the more I want one!

Kevin suggested FLChams to me last year and this is the captive bred one I got from them. You have to call them if they don't have any captive ones listed on their site. They weren't listed when I was looking but when I called last year they had several.

Here is mine, this is last year. She has all the colors depending on her mood. From near jet black, to lilac, brown, and lime green/yellow. In this pic she appears to be mildly upset at the camera intrusion.

And this is the other day still doing great in her larger enclosure.
