Where do you get crickets?

Weird. I ordered the day before yesterday and my crix should be here tomorrow...

I got my 1/2" in yesterday, but they are out of the bigger ones I ordered. Also noticed on Premium Crickets page that they have nothing bigger than the 1/2" for sale. Had to pay $20 for 150 at Petco as I HAD to have those bigger guys. I am seriously considering trying to raise my own silkies. Have tried dubias and not only could I not get half my crew to eat them, I had horrible luck with them - the screen fell, they got out and my husband had a major hissy fit!

Just ordered 2000 crickets through LLL because Ghanns is out of 3/4" ers. It was a bit more expensive, but we have to have them of course. Anyone know what the deal is with this cricket crisis? Is it expected to die out? Anyone know anything about it?

Here is some inside info for the board - maybe a few more details for the breeders who are getting shorted on crickets right now:

If your cricket farm is not offering bigger than 1/2" crickets - they have the "fungus" that is destroying most cricket farms. Crickets can't grow much past about 4 weeks old with this fungus, and die off. So even if you order 1/2", don't expect them to live long at all. The fungus is harmless to all reptiles - but when a cricket farm gets it - it is so destructive, they need to relocate, and literally start over to rid themselves of this issue. Crazy stuff, and as of right now, there is no fix.

That being said - the cricket farm we are currently using to ship all of our orders does NOT have any single issue with this fungus. We have worked hard to get this relationship going to make sure that we can still provide the healthiest crickets possible. To my knowledge, they are one of maybe 2 or 3 cricket farms in the nation that has managed to avoid it. So - we have ALL sizes, and NO fungus at all. All of our crickets get shipped overnight Fed Ex now (hence the price increase - although I do believe we have some of the best overnight cricket rates by far), and we now ship 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday). You can even do same day ordering if you order early enough (see website for details)

Sort of a plug, but some info for you as well. Honestly - we need all of these cricket farms to get back up and running, so let's hope for the best, as many of our friends in this business own or work at these farms. In the mean time, if you need them, we have them!

Just ordered 250 crickets and about 100 mini mealworms.....great deal!

the price of 250 crickets is only 2 cents cheaper than going to my local pet store. I assume that's because overnight shipping is included. I was getting 500 crickets for $13 from a dealer who is currently not shipping any crickets (even thought their URL implies that all they do is sell crickets via the web - guess who).
