Where should I put my new Cham?

I've finally ordered my first chameleon and his house! Now I can't decide where is the best place to put him in my small house. I have 3 options. 1. In the living room where we spend most of our time and the tv is always on. 2. In the kitchen/dining room on a counter where it might get hit when I cook and bake. Or 3. In the spare room where the dogs sleep and where the bird sings all day. Also it smells like dog so bad in there. And it can get a little cold. I wanna keep him in the living room so I can see him all the time. What do you guys think?

Hmm... Tough choice, well the noise doesn't matter seeing as they can't really hear much. The smell doesn't matter I don't think either. But when you first get him you don't want him some where where there is a lot of traffic because they will get stressed by that. I guess you could keep him in the dog room as long as the dog can't get all up in his grill lol. And as long as the bird is not very close to him. I think I'd put him in the spare room if I were you then when he adjusts you could move him to your living room.

If those are your ONLY options, then as out of the way as possible in the living room.
I know you didnt list it, but bedroom would be better maybe.

I think the living room is fine ... I think the dogs would be more bothersome than the TV.

We keep our melleri in the living room (most of the room is their free range), sure they all fight over the remote and just want to watch cartoons but for the most part it works fine!

Not to be a bother, but the comments have made me curious. My cham is in my room and I have three dogs that sleep in that same room. They don't mess with my cham (they barely even look at her cage) and are only in there to sleep, but would this bother my little girl.? Just the sight of the three dogs.?

Theres only 2 bedrooms in our house and they are taken by me and my husband and the other by my 1 year old. The dogs only come in their room to sleep and they don't really notice other critters. They think the bird is just as annoying as we do lol. So I guess if the living room stresses him too much I'll put him in the spare. Thanks for everyone's input!

My cham lives all week in a classroom with 27 fourth graders. People do not bother him at all. My dogs (English Bulldog and Boston Terrier) FREAK him out. He despises the sight of them. So I guess it all depends on the chameleon.

My chameleons freak like nothing else if they see a dog.

I would go with the living room and not the dog room, there can be bacteria in the air and dog fur and this could make him sick and possible kill him.

Hmmm....she doesn't show any stressed colors. She's in the corner by herself, and they are only in there when her lights are off. If she doesn't show stressed colors, would it be fine.?

IDK:confused:
If shes used to them it could be fine.
My Donahue free-ranges, the dog isnt allowed in there, but just today the dog was in trouble(chewd trash:mad:) and ran in there to hide.
Donahue raced behind his branch. As I was trying to budge the dog he started gaping and shaking like I have never seen him gape and shake.
Everyones situation is different.
I would just recomend keeping an eye on things if anyone has them in the same room.

Pick a corner in your living room and fill his enclosure with lots of plants. Make sure the inclosure is up sorta high so he feels the dogs are a safe distance. I have 3 dogs the chams dont mind them much. The cat is a diffrent story!! it gets the spray bottle when he comes close to my cham room. Cats are great for cricket controll

Put your baby in the living room. You will fall in love with your cham, become addicted like the rest of us, then you will put the TV in the spare room with the dogs...

I keep my chams in my family room. I do have the TV on most of the time. I have two small dogs and when they jump up on the back of the couch the chams were concerned at first... now they just think of them as part of the furniture. Any time I see that chams concerned about my dogs I make the dogs move out of the area. I also will not let my teen kids make alot of commotion in the room. For me the family room is fine... but I do have restrictions of what happens in my chams surroundings.
