Where would i find this?

I have seen it at Lowes and Home Depot-it comes in large-plywood sized sheets and is fairly easy to cut.

Jake,

I've been looking at the Home Depot on Victory in West HIlls and the Lowes on Topanga for a while now and could not find it.

If you find it let me know where, I'll split a sheet with you if they only sell in full pieces.

If you go to home depot, they will cut for you for free, well the first 3 cuts are free, so just make several trips if needed, I cannot afford good tools on a college budget, I have alot of stuff to work on cars, but no saws or anything, so I go there ALOT. :D

Does anyone know where in their local store it was located? Like what section or what products it was near? I'm pretty familiar with the lay out of the stores so you could say like "building materials next to the siding or something"

At our Lowes here it is back with the sheets of melamine and the board with holes in it-not sure what that is called. Near the plywood.

I have never found it at Home Depot or Lowes...you can find it at a sign store. And a skill saw cuts it as well.

AGREED-Any sign store will carry this...usually they have tons of scrap and will GIVE it to you. At least the place by me does..i now have a great relationship with them.

home depot and lowes DO NOT have it.

Just a suggestion....
I use to be a boat mechanic, and we use to make custom mounting plates and brackets made out of this stuff called StarBoard.
It comes in 1/8 and 1/4 thick.
Mold cant grow on it and UV light dosent break it down.
I made the back of one my cages with this stuff.
It wipes clean with a wet paper towel and has a little texture to it.
You can find it at places like WestMarine.

Geez-then I wonder what this stuff is I have???-It came from Lowes or Home Depot and certainly seems the same as the stuff that came in the bottom of the screen cages.

I couldn't find it at HD or Lowes either. I just bought a 2x2 piece of plyboard and a piece of the clear plastic used for lights in buildings. I glued the plastic texture side down and cut it to fit with a table saw.

I never thought of a sign store.

In our Home Depot it is in the back in the lumber section where they have sheets of wall paneling and plexi-glass.

The stuff I've used for years is at HD or Lowes, it's a hard, tough particle board with a plastic, water resistant and easy-to-clean coating on one side. It is VERY hard to cut, even with a circular saw. Very heavy, and the edges are not waterproof.

Foamed PVC is the best choice. It's usually 1/8 of an inch thick. Solid PVC is VERY heavy and expensive. This stuff seems solid, but it's got tiny bubbles in it for lightness. It's not easy to cut, as it tends to melt at the cutting point. But it's not too bad.

Corrugated plastic, like what they use on temporary signs stuck on the sides of roads, is great, but the holes can hold nasty things.

Plastic supply companies or sign stores are your best bet. My local plastic supply place was expensive, so I'd try a sign store next time.
