Which brand of cage do you prefer?

Hello! I am going to buy a cage off of either amazon or ebay and was just curious if DIY cages or Reptibreeze are more preferred. I kind of notice that reptibreeze are a bit more expensive. But the DIY has b grade cages and i have no idea what that means lol and should i go through ebay or amazon? Opinions?

I bought a retibreeze and I personally dont like it. it is very cheaply made for the price, and thats why i am currently building my own design.

I have both but I prefer the reptibreeze. Mostly because the bottom of the front panel has latches that allow you to open and close that panel for easier cleaning and sliding a laying bin into the bottom of the cage. I had to retrofit the DIYs to make them the same. I am also not crazy about the latches that come with the DIYs. I have 2 that have gotten out of alignment with the hole they match up to and they are only a couple months old.
The DIY B grade cages have mis aligned screw holes and you would have to respline all the screen to get rid of the strong teflon odor present in the spline. That sounded like more work than the $30 savings so I opted not to try those.JMO

lets put it this way. we have 6 bought cages. we are slowly building DIY cages and the bought ones are ending up in the basement one at a time.
DIY cages are (if you have the $$$ and time) so much better! you can decorate, design, and set it up EXACTLY the way you and your cham want it! you can make it square, triangle, circle, a hexagon, what ever you want. you can get chameleon safe sealant and color the cage what ever color you like, have the screen that fits your cham best and so on and so on

Well if price isn't an issue I have to drop Kammerflage Kreations name. I have been trying their cages because they have different dimensions.

They are great quality and the chams seem to like them a lot more!! Just what i have found

go amazon and reptibreeze, you can get them shipped for under 88.00 for a 2x2x4 and on ebay a bgrade cage is 68.00 I think. a B grade cage is a factory second, and is not good enough to sell under a normal retail scenario.

The 20-30 savings is not worth the risk of getting something with a few issues vs a lot of issues.

The best enclosures though are @ www.screencages.com get the large wire screen will allow better penetration of uvb and light into the enclosure.

I bought about 10 Reptibreezes and they all rusted they replaced them all and the replacements rusted. I am not sure if they have worked through the rust problem but I bought the Sandfire dragon ranch cages and they have been great. No experience with DIY but have heard good things.

I honestly do not mind the fixing of the DIY cage and price is a factor just because my dad is getting me it for my 20th birthday and would rather not push it lol. But I mean if you guys have had that many problems with the DIY cages it kinda makes me wanna move into the other direction. The DIY b grade are 68 bucks shipped on ebay...And on ebay the same dimension cage is like 100 lol so my eyes are going towards the cheaper.

I will say that you get what you pay for, and unless you have a screen splining tool too, then you will need to buy one because I betcha the splines are not in very good on those bgrade cages. So you will have to spend money on top of the 68.00, and if you read the ad it will tell you may be out of square and holes not lined up.

If you going to spend that much money spend 75.00 and buy all the material yourself at lowes/home depot and make 2-3 2x2x4 enclosures since your going to have to rebuild the bgrade anyways.

Trust me I know, I bought a bgrade enclosure, I had to tighten the screen, re spline the screen because the existing spline slipped, and do some bending/aligning. I spent a saturday making the enclosure usable then the cheap plastic latch snapped 1st time I closed/latched the front door. In the end I could of built a 4x4x8 for the $$ and time spent.

Yeah you make a great point, I may just try to convince him to get the huge ReptiBreeze off of amazon lol the 24x24x48 more space and more to do with it for my baby girl :) But Idk i have more looking to do before we order it tomorrow.

I get our cages from LLL reptile....seems to be a no name brand screen cage.

I have one reptibreeze cage...it rusted and the rivets holding the side on broke so sometimes the cage pops apart .

I have two cages from DIY website and I don't like how the bottom panel is not made to flip open ..makes it hard to clean. True you can just not screw it down so you can open it but the pivot point is in the wrong spot and it will come open when you don't want it to because there is no latch.

Also have 2 zipper reptariums...my least favorite. The mesh is so dark it hardly let's UV through and holes get ripped in it over time

In the end I always go back to LLL

and one other thing I was going to ask was how large should I get, should I get a 24x24x48 because at the moment she is only 4 months old but honestly if i can get one that she will need as she is growing that would be perfect

My mistake... I thought the ones from LLL reptile were reptibreeze. The ones from LLL reptile are the ones I prefer over the DIY. They also come with stainless steel screws and are all aluminum in addition to having the bottom panel made to open. You might save $10 on another brand but those are pretty good at $102 shipped for a 24x24x48.

I agree about lllReptile. I have had both cages. One from there and another from DIY. Both are good yes but for the extra $12, lllReptile ones do open at the bottom making cleaning faster and easier.:)

I have two reptibreeze 2x2x4 and I love them. I cannot personally compare them to other brands because I have only owned the reptibreezes but I have no issues with them. Mine are outside and are always getting misted and have had no rust issues so maybe that was an older version the one that posted here had.
