Hi there! I have a 5 month old male veiled chameleon. He's been getting these crusty white clumps in his nose. I always make sure to dislodge them by simply running my finger across it, so it's not like they're deeply rooted in. I read a little bit about it online, where it said that they could be clumps of excess salts due to too much calcium dusting on the crickets, and that if you're having this problem that you should use less.
But he is a juvenile, so I've been dusting his crickets with every feeding as recommended. I don't think I use too much; I drop about 6-8 crickets (twice a day) into a plastic baggie with the calcium powder in it, then put them in his cage less than 15 seconds later. They're never completely white or anything. Also, I've been using this brand for his calcium without D3:
And this I use this one, with D3, twice a month
If anyone could please give me any advice on how to help my little boy, it would be greatly appreciated. If I need to dust the crickets less often or in a different way, please let me know! Thank you
