Hi everyone, My male panther has white crystals in nostrils, I've done a lot of research and see many people have chams with this- people say it's ridding itself of excess supplements- i did also read that although iguanas rid their bodies of salts through their noses and apparently also yemens - panthers are not known to do this (?)- he is kept with all the correct requirements- I dont use lots of supplements on him, he has about 3 humidity spikes during the day-cage sprayed and allowed to dry between, humidity between 50 and 65-75, temp good-he is extremely active, isn't gaping, sneezing, coughing, no stress, no change in environment- he is eating well and drinking well,he has a big dripper which works brilliantly for big drops of water- i add reptile water treatment- could that have something in it? faeces good, everything is perfect but for the deposits on his nose- it is just in the nostrils, not dripping down or anything. Is this normal- I have just been looking at random images on google and i noticed that some of the chmas had the same white deposits- my concern is can he breathe through the "blockage" of powder ? He shows no sign of difficulty . any advice gratefully received.

The white around the nostrils is normal. This is how chameleon excrete extra salts and minerals. Despite common belief, it is NOT from too much supplements, do NOT decrease your supplementation. It should clear up after a little while. If you are concerned about breathing, you can upload a photo and we can help you judge he situation. Hope this helps!

thanks

Many thanks for your help- I did stop using supplements but have started again with them, your advise was very helpful, He continues to be fine- white powder fell out of nostrils and has not come back yet. Cheers- Mr Jolly the panther cham says thanks too :)
