Whittled sticks

I whittled these sticks today to get the nasty moss off and I was wondering if they would be good to put in my chameleon cage in the blue marked spots.

As long as they don’t have thick sticky sap or any strong odors, they’re good. No need to whittle your branches though. I give my branches a little scrub with a plastic bristle brush and Dawn dish soap and whatever doesn’t come off from that gets to stay. Many of my branches have lichen and I live the way it looks…so natural. Make sure to rinse very well to get all the soap off. No need to bake or sterilize, remove bark or any of that.

The more the merrier. Really fill her enclosure with safe live plants and branches or vines. Pothos is your new bff. Don’t forget to get that T5 5.0 or 6% uvb up there too.

I have a plumb tree outside that I can put her on but there are hawks near me and I don't know how to reach her other than a chair

Sunlight passing through glass won’t provide her with the UVB she needs to produce the vitamin D3 she needs to absorb the calcium she needs from her diet. You need to take her outside or have a proper UVB light over the screen lid of the cage.

I would worry about her getting scooped up by the hawks…it only takes a second.

So then do I like fend the hawks off, I haven't seen a hawk in like 2 months so I'm not that worried but let's say birds do come swooping down I just fend them off with a big stick?

On days when it’s warm and sunny, you can take your chameleon out, either keep her sitting on your hand or on a small plant. Do NOT leave her alone for even a second! They are quick and hawks are even quicker! You don’t want to be in the super hot direct sun as you’ll both get over heated. An area of dappled sunlight - like bits of sunlight shining thru the leaves of a tree are perfect. Do not put her in any tree, bush or any other plant not growing in a pot outside or one that is larger than you can reach. You only need to be outside for about 10-15 minutes or so.
Until you are able to get the correct uvb, you can take one of your bendy vines and set it below the uvb light. The pic will show/explain how. You have to be very careful that the vine isn’t so close to the basking bulb or she’ll get burned. This is just a very temporary way to try to give her even small amounts of uvb and are not at all a substitute for the correct light.

Another idea would be to have a outside enclosure. That's not in direct sunlight like under a tree put a table and chair nearby have coffee or snack. You wouldn't believe some of the outside enclosures @crosscutts and many others have built

I have a old clean up 30x18x18 if that would work

If you can’t reach her how are you going to protect her from the hawks? They move silently and it only takes a second for her to be scooped up. You should have an outdoor cage to keep her safe…IMHO.

No…not if its hot or cold….only on sunny warm days as @MissSkittles has said.

That could work for short term, still would need supervision because its pretty light
