To QUIT smoking ciggs????

I've remained abstinent a little past two years! Even though I am young and was only smoking for 6-7 years, I was up to 3 packs a day and things were just getting digsusting.

I used the heck out of that high dose nicotine patch and kept eating tastier food and working out more.

Any of you who've been smoking for 30-40+ years... Today is a good day to throw them out and start new!!!!

Ive been trying to quit and I'll quit for a month or two and then BAM
I'll just start again.

Its really hard :/

But since Im in a dental assisting program and Im going to be in the dental field I can't
have nasty yellow teeth now can I? :/

infact the other day in my health class, we saw this video of this guy who used a smoking machine to smoke 400 cigarettes. he took all the tar, put it in water. then he boiled the water out and there was this HUGE pile of tar. it was gross.

i often here that people think smokers are bad people. but that is not true. people who smoke are not any more good people than other people who dont. but than again, i dont incourage it either.


how does that nicotine patch work?? i dont really get it.

Was a smoker for 23 years and have quit twice now.1st time was for 4 yrs and started goin to the bars again and started back up.
2nd time was for 5 years and just quit ike 5 months ago.
All of my sucesses were due to quitting cold turkey its the only way to do it.

Kudos to all of you for trying!! I've been a Respiratory Care Practitioner for 10 years. Boy do I have stories. I can't tell you how many people I have sat with while they died of lung disease. It breaks my heart to watch them. They would give their all to tell their story to everyone that smokes. It's very hard to look that far ahead when we live in the now.......

Both me and my girl quit for more than a year now and big the differance its made.. started chewing in the navy and i also haven't chewed in over a year love my lungs and lips..

Never smoked, never will. Luckily down here people who smoke aren't really considered cool -- most people here find it disgusting!

My sister smokes and it's starting to add up on her bills. If she quit maybe she would be a little better off.

I've offered my friends $20 to stop smoking, heck, I'd extend the offer to you guys too if you offered proof!

I smoked for 10 years and quit 11 years ago. I am a firm believer when you are READY to quit you WILL. Cold turkey with the patch for 3 days is the best way to do it ( worked for me). If I can quit anyone can!!

After smoking for about 7 years, at the worst of it I smoked almost 2 packs a day. I quit 10 years ago this month. I should have a smoke free anniversary party or something. I tried the gum and patches but went cold turkey the last time. I'm healthier and stronger now in my 30's than I ever was in high school.
