Still can't get in touch with the family on Long Island. Phone circuits are tied up and all cell calls have been going right to voice mail... All power was out last night already prior to the Jersey landfall. Not sure how they did. Hoping for the best, but it was rough.

Thanks! I think a lot of cell service and power lines are down so we may not hear from everyone right away. Hoping for the best, but a lot of lives were just turned upside down. Good luck in Chi-town and the lakes!

Okay here in Northern VA. We didn't lose power which I couldn't believe. A house on my street had a tree fall over and take out their roof. Aside from that, my area seems to be okay with minimal damage (sigh of relief). Wishing the best to those less fortunate especially in NJ and NY area

Finally got a text. All O.K. Fire Island and Long Beach are completely devastated. I've been watching News 12 Long Island online and its not pretty.

Good glad to head your fam is safe! Yeah the pix and videos coming out now are absolutely heartbreaking!! I've never seen such devastation so close to home

We made it through with loss of power for only about 5 minutes. We were very fortunate, and thankful, as our town has been hit with 2 tornados and a major flood in the past several years. It was nice to get a break this time. My heart goes out to others who were not as fortunate this time around.
