Baby veiled cham, 2 month old male. I saw him with his mouth open a couple times now, wondering why does he do that? Here's a picture.

^^ couldn't say it any better than just took hot in temperature.. He's a little younger so maybe the basking temp is too hot. Or also if there is another animal in his/her presence he may feel threatened.. Not serious though!

Sorry for not following your forum's procedure, didn't know where to find that form. But anyways, I'm currently not using ANY basking light because he's only 2 months and the uvb 5.0 is warm enough. When I took that picture, the temp was about 85-87F. I think he was hot. But I also wanted to confirm it with you guys. Thanks for replying though, I'm new to this but i've been doing my research before buying him.

I agree that it's just a little too hot for him.

There always seems to be more to learn with these lil guys!

Also, for future reference, the how to ask for help form is a sticky (always one of the top posts) in the health clinic :)

First off i wanna say how cute your little boy is & second your problem is your cage, i see that you have some sour of tank? with a screen top? sorry if am wrong, but chameleon's need lots of air. That's why most of the people here recommend screen cage's , although when i first started i got recommended (by the pet store) that she'll be fine in a 10gallon fish tank -__- that didn't stop me from adding one & two together i stud up all night doing my research, So am glad you did yours too. But anyways he might be seeing his reflection & that might be stressing him out, also another reason tanks are not recommended. Is because respiratory breathing problem that could happen cause of bacteria building up due to every time you mist .

I recommend for you, to pay closed attention to him for a whole day n see if his trying to get out his cage or has problem's breathing or is just not active this could be signs of a vet visit.

Please field out the '' how to ask for help from '' for better assistance , i might be wrong and it could be something else. i need a better background on him to understand the problem, wish you the best with your little boy.
please keep myself & everyone posted i know how there's lots of people in here that would love to help you out

It's an exo terra 18x18x24, just bought the damn thing and I realize that I'll have to change it later. Also, the"seeing it's reflection in a glass terrarium" is all myth and hearsay. The little guy was just hot and I stopped using the basking light for now, until he's older. Thanks everyone! Love this forum.

I would stilll use a basking lamp, as they have a harder time absorbing heat from the air like we do.

I would just get a low wattage bulb so you can provide a lower temp basking spot for him.
