Why he look like this

This is my chameleon Chad. He’s the homie why is he black on the top and bright on the bottom. I think he was probably just scared because he went back to normal when I got him back into his cage but still wondering if there’s a reason.

When they get fired up, those are the colors that you’ll see. Did that black area just behind his head go back to normal color or did it stay dark/black? Also, I see a double dome lamp but not your uvb. What type of uvb are you using?

I have a little uvb in the double bulb but I just ordered a t5 strip one for him that I think he will love. And ya it went back to normal I think he was just mad.

And the t5 bulb will be much healthier than that tiny uvb bulb

Yes, very much so! Unfortunately the coil screw in bulbs only provide a very narrow area of uvb and only at a much too close range. What are you using for supplements? Just as important as correct Uvb, you need the correct supplementation regimen.

I have a calcium powder supplement with D3 and another reptivite vitamin with D3 that I switch between feedings

Ok, so it sounds like you’re giving too much D3. It builds up in the body and can become a real problem. If you have the Reptivite with D3, that is great! You’ll need to give that once every two weeks. For every feeding (except the Reptivite one) you’ll need a calcium without D3.

I don’t dust for every feeding but like I switch between the two supplements when I do ??

A great place to learn consistent info about keeping your cham is https://chameleonacademy.com/veiled-chameleon-care/. The entire site is fantastic and includes podcasts. You’ll not only learn what to do and ideas how to do it, but why to do it that way. Another great resource for learning is Neptune the Chameleon on YouTube. And of course, the forum is always here and you can ask whatever questions you may have. :)
