why is she purple

Dang. Have you tried misting with warm water? Also babies for me normally don't cup feed. Have you tried free ranging crickets? Or fruit flies? You can get fruit fly cups from petco that are actually pretty healthy and active.

Same here, I try every day to cup feed 2 babies and they wont have anything to do with it. Have to free range them, and that means cricks get everywhere and congregate in the corners of the cage!!

You really have to just give them lots of hidding places for security, and totally leave them alone!! I mean, they even know if you are looking at them!!
When I pass their cage, I dont even look!!

They start in the back of the cage, hidding, then they slowly come forward (if they detect no threat) untill one day you will see him sitting in the open under his basking light saying; "what the hell are YOU looking at!!??" :D

I have 3 words of advise for new cham owners; patience, patience, patience

I also recommend feeding the young ones flies.
The flies catch their attention and stimulate their hunting instinct, plus give them practice catching prey.
You can get the maggots cheap and let them hatch.
I buy mine from Grubco.com, in fact, I am expecting an order for my little new guys ;)

Baby Veileds are sometimes born with a purple hue to them. It will disappear with age, but it's pretty common I believe. I wish they would keep some of it, but it will fade. I don't think that there is anything wrong.

Here is a video of some I hatched last year that had a majority of 'Purples'.

Shes also probably so dark because shes cold!!

if your basking temp is 72 for her.. shes trying to absorb more heat.

get that basking temp up to at lesat 80!

Put in a bunch of plants, fake or real, so she has some places to hide. She will relax once she has someplace to go. Also, a male is dominate so she will probably leave the food for him to eat as long as she can see him. The cardboard was a good idea, Now plant her side of the cage so she relaxes and she will be fine. Babies at that age play with their colors regardless. When they come out of their shells they are all different colors, they are very pretty. Some are solid green, some have the prettiest stripes and some are dark like your cham. Seems like they just mess around with their color buttons for awhile until life calms down. Don't fret, it won't hurt her. You will have time until her cage arrives, just give her plenty of hiding places.

Yea I agree they can go without food but not water maybe give frequent listing and I try not to handle them at all she is very cute give her bunch of foliage live or plastic which ever easier for you and give her time to adjust.if you want more answers from people fill out that how to ask for help form
