Helli, my chameleon is about a year and a half and he was growing pretty big so I bought a used terrarium online. I washed it out realy well with just water and its way bigger then his old cage I also got plants that were cleaned by me with the cage. He was in the cage for about a day and when I went to check on him he was sitting in the corneer all blackish and cold. I Thought he fell so I tried putting him back near the light but he just keeps crawling to the bottom. I put him back in his tiny cage and he acted fine. Is it the cage the plants or just the new spot hes in and how can I make him love his new cage I don't understand why hes acting like this he has handled cage changes before fine.

Veils need good airflow, i.e. a screen enclosure. Glass does not sit well with them. Having been pre-owned, it is very possible that the previous owner left some kind of residue that is irritating him. Try getting him 18x18x36" (preferably 24x24x48") reptibreeze or similar cage. Start at amazon.com for $60. This will be as effective as a ritalin rx for yoshi. Believe me. Good luck, as i hear koopa is near by.

id love to but I am currently residing at my grandparent and they have cats and there isn't a room unoccupied by a cat. I will have to reclean then cage I guesss. he is about 8" and is in a 18" x 24" x 24" 18 deep.
thank you though:eek:

I love you for making that reference (koopa) :p

Chams HATE change, and now he is in something totally new to him. Thats why he is freaking out.
Also, I usually dont recommend a glass terrarium unless you know how to heat and vent it properly.

In some climate locations, glass can be the best option, but you need to know how to set it up for proper air flow and water drainage.

By the way, he's not acting STUPID, he's upset by the change. Have some patience and be kind.

agree.
make sure the set-up is good, and that he isn't seeing a reflection or a cat or something else he doesn't like. Give him time to settle in.
