Hello,
the two lamps i recommended before, the Bright Sun Jungle 70W or the Osram Vitalux are definetely the best choise. Unfortunately those lamps are quite expensive, the BS need a power supply unit and needs to be exchanged every 6 months. The BS is meant for 8-9 hours per day, the Vitalux should only be used up to 40 Minutes per day (its a 300W lamp).
Both lamps are proven to be very good in UV provision.

Im sorry but Im still nowhere near sold on these bulbs... ESPECIALLY the vitalux mercury vapor bulbs which this article (http://www.uvguide.co.uk/zoolamps.htm ) seems to specifically say that chameleons need the 5% to 8% range and the vitalux was meant for larger enclosures... and this thread (https://www.chameleonforums.com/uvb-sun-mercury-vapor-bulbs-60628/) seems to tell some horror stories... I just have NEVER heard of anyone using this lighting schedule... Honestly I would stick to a REPTISUN LINEAR 5.0 18-24" tube with a hood... Never heard of a dangerous incident with these but that is just MHO!

Hello,
around here in germany everybody uses those lamps and our animals are very fine :)
I never heard of any problems if you are aware of how you must use those lamps.
There needs to be a distance of at least 30cm from the lamp down to the beginning of the terrarium. Also your Chameleon needs to have the opportunity to get out of the light whenever it wants to. I guess thats quite natural as ist is the same in nature. I also think that this difference in keeping chams in the US and in germany comes from the differen climate. While you guys are in most cases able to put yout chameleon outside every day of the year or so, we can not do so, so the result is, that we use stronger UV bulbs. But seriously, i´ve never heard of any problem with vapor lamps when they were used properly.
Greetings
