So I'm a proud father of Gary, my veiled. He's a jerk, but we love him.
I may have told this story before, but I love it, so here we go:
I was always a dog guy, but chams really interested me. I've wanted to get into Chameleons for a very long time, but I've never been a reptile dude. My wife definitely wasn't a reptile chick. Finally, I said, Lord, "if I'm not crazy, let it just happen." Then, we walked into PetCo, and there was Gary, the ONLY cham flipping out in the enclosure. We fell in love and new he was perfect for our family when he, just like our dogs, reached out for my wife and copped a feel.
My wife got a Crested Ghecko, Stanley, at Repticon (which we had never heard of) 2 weeks later. They're actually best friends. . .well, Stanley thinks so. We haven't told him the reason they can't hang out together is because Gary would kill him and eat him. (is there a good crestie forum like this anywhere?) We found out that for all of my research, I knew nothing. Thanks to whoever founded this place, because everyone here has been an amazing help.
Part of my ignorance is on the deal of Panthers. I get the general info: they're named after their place of origin, which roughly dictates their coloration.
Personally, I'm an Ambilobe man. No offence to the Nosy's, but I feel that if I'm gonna fork over that much money (Gary was $35. He was %50 off, and I would have paid full price for his attitude), I'd like to get some wild coloration. I love to show off Gary's yellow and green and blue. He's really a gorgeous chameleon. I want something to show off, like my dogs.
My wife loves bright colors, so I was shocked when she said, "I just love those Nosy Be's!" She loves that beautiful blue they are.
So here's my question: What's the deal with the Nosy be's? Do they turn any colors or just get different shades of blue? Is there a compromise panther? Should we just get 1 of each?
Thanks for the info!
Greg
